I need you opinions on an invitation idea- Honest (but nice!!)

As some of you may be aware, I am doing somewhat of a Shakespearean (Elizabethan) theme for my wedding.

I was doing RESEARCH, and in my REASEARCH, I found that typically if an invitation was sent, it was sent on rolled parchment paper tied with a bow (flower) and sealed with a waxmark or something- But more importantly, it was HAND DELIVERED....

I was kind of thinking that this might be a cute idea to tie everyone's invite with a nice flower and hand-deliver it to them (within a certain distance, of course). What do you guys think of this? I know it will take A LOT of work on my part...I just want to know what you would think about RECEIVING something like this..

the other option is to mail them in those little tube things (which I will have to do for all OOT people) but I think that will be mucho dinero....

thoughts, ideas, opinions are welcomed!

Jess I think that's an awesome idea!!! I mean, yes it will be a lot of work on your part but it's just so different that I think the reactions you get will be worth it. Not only does it fit perfectly into your theme but it comes across so personally. It would really mean so much to me if I was hand delivered an invite to a wedding by the bride and groom themselves. I'm sure your guests will love it!!! Plus it saves on stamps, too!!!

Wow, Jessica that would take a lot of work, but a really nice idea. They have don't stuff like that on for Better or Worse on TLC. I don't even know if the show is still on, but maybe check out the website.

i think its an adorable idea....like you said, a lot or work and prob a lot of money...but great idea...just figure out time and finances!

I think its a good idea...very different. I know someone who had an invitation delivered to them personally like that and they thought it was really great...plus if it saves you postage on the ones in your area then its even better...those tubes are expensive to mail...a friend of mine did them and it ended up costing her about $1.50 a tube ...not including the postage for each return envelope

I think it's a fantastic idea - and well worth the time and effort. As far as delivering them personally - not so much of a fan, but it would be nice to see people's reactions. I think you can honestly get away with doing it on the cheaper side by printing them up yourself and not having them professionally done.

I lovethe idea its more personable and jsut think of the reactionsyou will get I like it alot. ITs very differnet but also alot of work on your part.

what a cute idea!! i would LOVE to get something like that!!! (It will be alot of work though) But like Christine said, well worth it!!

I love that idea! But what would be great is if you and FH rented costumes from Shakespearian times for a few days and dressed up as you delivered them!

I think its great, but very time consumming. Plus not everyone will be home and so on. What if you boxed them so when they open it up it stays in the scroll. Just an idea

the only other suggestion I have is to do the same type of paper and seal it with the wax and a flower or whatever...but leave it in a flat form that can then be mailed.... best of both worlds!

I can guarantee FH will NEVER dress up to do this, but it's a cute idea!

I still have to run this whole think past him. we may just end up using Leese's idea, with a few close by exceptions.
