So as you know Im planning a wedding, and also I want to move out of my dad's house into my own place with my FH. WE wont officially move in until the week of our wedding. when do you think we should start buying furniture? and looking around for a place??? We are trying to get into an apartment first.

Def dont buy ANYTHING until you find a place. We are in the middle of moving and we started looking in the beginning of January and every place wanted us to move in asap. Our lease is not up until March so we cant move out until then. So I would say the earliest to start looking would be 2 months before you intend on moving out.

When FH & I moved in together it happened really fast. I was living at home and he had his own place, but his landlord had sold the house so he had to find a place. We literally looked for 2 weeks and moved in about 2 weeks later.
So my advice would be not to even bother looking until you are almost ready to move. And def. don't buy ANYTHING until you know where you will be. You don't want to buy a couch only to find out a love seat is the only thing that will fit!

I agree with what the ladies said above. Def don't buy any furniture until you are sure what apt you will be moving into. You don't to buy furniture that wont fit into the space you are moving in. I would start browsing apt listings a cpl of months before you are ready to move it. When I was looking for my 1st apt a few years ago, I found most places were ready for you to move in on the 1st of the next month. Also found some ready to move in immediately, some a lil longer. All depends.

Thanks guys I think I'm just scarred that we might love a place And tthey put us on a waiting list. I just get very anxious with big milestones in my life. So for now I'll try and lay low and put aside some money also for now...... Ahhhh so much money to save

I hear you girl. Everything is $$$$$$!! FH and I may be moving into a bigger apt in the next cpl of months. I wanted to wait until closer to the wedding so we can save that extra $ we'd be spending on rent and utilities (cuz I don't pay utilities now), but the apt above is likely to become available so we said if its meant to be ours we'll take it. We could really use the extra space and extra bedroom for FH daughter when she comes over. But of course with the new apt comes higher bills and new stuff to buy. Exciting yet dreadful time thinking about the money lol.. Don't u wish we all had our own personal money tree?? Wishful thinking I know.. *sigh*
