I NEED YOUR HELP FAST!!! --UPDATE

Hi Ladies,

I need your help fast....PLEASE! I have a meeting with the priest in 30 minutes and I have some questions..

FH has been married before but in a Presbyterian Church...They were not able to get it annulled....
Do we tell them that he has been married? Will they know? Do they check the Marriage License department?

It also doesn't help that we live together!

Help! What do we tell him?? I hate to lie to the church, but I'm afraid they won't marry us.

Just tell them the truth. What's the big deal? I'm Lutheran so maybe I don't get it.

I think its best to tell. I believe the way they find out is through the baptismal certficate. They request one for the church about 4-6 months before and it apparantely says if you've been married before. Better to be honest up front then have them call a few months before your wedding.

I am pretty sure they ask you if you have been married before. We also had to have witnesses sign a paper saying that you aren't married. I also think the marriage license that the priest must sign to marry you will list if there are any previous marriages.

I wouldn't lie to the priest!! lol Just tell them the situation... Are you 100% set on this church? If they don't marry, you just find another place if possible. Your situation is pretty common actually, and I'm sure they've heard it all before. Maybe they could give you suggestions as to what you can do in order to marry there. Good Luck!

You are all right! I knew I shouldn't lie to the church and that's where my aniexty came from, but you all just put my mind at ease and it would be SO much worse if they found out we lied right to his face!!! OK - Here I go! Wish me luck!!

UGH!!! So I'm not sure if we made the right decision . We spoke to the priest for an hour and 45 minutes. It was a great meeting, but when he asked if any one of us had been married, FH told the truth. He said he would do everthing and anything in his power to marry us, but it's going to be a long expensive process and he can't set a date for us becuase we are not eligiable to get married in the catholic church...

The preist has to go before the bishop for a hearing and try to expedite FH's first marriage...Please say a pray for us that it all goes ok! I'm so upset and so nervous that he will not be able to marry us and I will not have the wedding of my dreams.

I had a feeling that might be what he would say. It could work out though. We thought we would have a problem b/c FH never made his communion but it worked out.

This is just my opinion, but, this is the exact reason why I think organized religion is so rediculous. It's like you're a heathen for getting a divorce.

I hope everything works out for you.
