I need your opinion of travel agencies that you can actually meet the person v. travel agencies that you do your booking on the internet, (VIA -E-mails)

Me personally, I feel more comfortable with meeting a travel agent and being able to go to their office to see and talk with the agent. I know of this agency that is out of state and apparently many people use them on here, but I am just unsure of how safe they really are. They do most of their booking it seems through e-mails and over the phone. You never get to see the people.

How do you all feel about this?

I went to Liberty Travel to book my HM. They will, most of the time, do price matches. I researched a lot of different prices and found the lowest price on the internet using travelocity (or one of those) and the price matched. So you can certainly do that.

Also, if you book through Liberty they will also reimburse you if the trip goes down in price. They will not do this if you get a price match in the beginning.

I would feel more comfortable going to a travel agent and talking to them in person

You have to do what you are comfortable with. I booked w/ Irene from American Express Travel in Garden City. My brother & sister in law used her for their honeymoon and many other trips. So I felt totally comfortable with her. I happened to book everything w/ her over the phone & email because of my schedule, but she is available for office appointments. MAS Travel (a vendor here). They are WONDERFUL, warm, friendly and down to earth. They work out of their house in Lake Grove and have been everywhere and can show you pictures of their MANY trips to the Carribean, Europe, Mexico, etc. First hand knowledge of where to stay, what managers are the most accomodating, etc.

After our HM, they invited us over because they wanted to see our pics and MaryAnn made us homemade manicotti! They treat you like family and we adore them!

I was also apprehensive of using an internet travel agency but went ahead an tried it. The service from the company I used has really been wonderful; I'm glad I went ahead and did it online. They had the best price and I like being able to browse through options online, without someone over my shoulder. We used Honeymoons, Inc. to book our rooms and hotel transfers and Travelocity for the plane tickets.

don't know anything about beach bum travel--but we're using In & Out Travel (an LIW vendor) and they were great in getting us the best rate.

i also feel a little more comfortable going thru a TA for our HM. i have booked many vacations on line, but for our HM i wanted some more personal service

I'm using Leslie ([email protected])from Travel Solutions - a vendor on here and she is wonderful to work with!!! You can ask her all the questions you may have through e-mail OR you can meet her in person at their Travel Office - whichever you feel comfortable doing. They do offer discounts for LIW brides if you let them know and will work within any budget you may have. Leslie has been hands done, the best person, so far that I have dealt with regarding my wedding b/c she was a bride a few years ago and was posting on here and has been able to answer questions for me regarding non-HM related stuff. Plus, she's travelled all over to these resorts to review them, so she can offer a perspective of what she's experienced and what each resort can offer HM couples. FM me if you have any questions. I had about 1000 that Leslie answered for me before we booked with her. She's so patient with me!!!

We are using Dream Travel in Islip. We dealt with Susan. She was awesome. Highly recommend her. Sorry dont remember the number.
