My grandfather's wife is chinese and she told me to check with her before I pick a date so she could consult the chinese calendar and see if the date was good or not. So, when my hall gave me my options I called her and she said that the 2007 calendar doesn't come out for a few months. So, I gave her the dates anyway.
When I went back to book, they had another date available (9/1/07) and I took that one for various reasons. I never called her back to give her the new date.
Well, she called yesterday and left me a message saying that both the dates I gave her were bad days (And she told me some stories about people she knew who got married on unlucky days..it was like a soap opera- death, divorce, abuse etc...) BUT that 10/27 and 9/1 were VERY GOOD days!!!

That is so cool!! I used a Chinese Astrologer to pick my wedding day. He charges about $40 to search the Chinese almanac for 'lucky' wedding days. It is all based on the couples birthdates / birth times. Our wedding date was lucky based on the moon cycle as well as the actual number (6/18). Congrats!! (p.s. there is an official Chinese bride thread on the Brides Helping Bride board)

It doesn't work that way. It is based on your birthdate, your husband's birthdate and the Chinese calendar.
dont look up your date if its already booked! what if you have an 'unlucky' one! you will be all nervous then!

She didn't ask for FHs bday...maybe she just used mine?? I don't know...Her family is really into eastern healing and astrology and such...who knows? She always has suggestions for me...lol.
