i picked up my proofs today and i am sad (long)...

okay, this is not a good night. i already typed this whole post out and of course, it logged me out and i lost it all...
so i picked up my proofs today and just like anyone else, i was crazy excited. i couldn't even wait until we got home to look at them... i looked in the car...
the pictures we do have, yes they are beautiful. there are some amazing shots that came out more beautiful than i could have expected.
but i just feel like there's so much missing... so many moments...
i don't remember my wedding day very well. it is a blur to me, which depresses me enough as it is... i have been waiting for these pictures to fill in my memory... and i just don't feel like they capture the day the way they should have.
there's no pictures of anyone at my house seeing me all ready for the first time.
there's no pictures of mike and the BM and the pastor waiting at the altar before the actual ceremony started.
no pictures of the church or anyone sitting in the pews.
no close ups of me coming down the aisle.
no pictures of my mom or his family as dad and i were coming down the aisle.
no close ups of what was going on at the altar...
hold on, i'm going to write another post so it doesn't log me out...

i would make a list of your most important complaints and make an appt with the owner. calmy discuss why you are so dissappointed and ask them what they can do for you at this point. obviously they can't produce pictures that they didn't take, but maybe they can give you extra photos in your album, toss in a mini album, extra enlargements, give you your cd now rather than later (though most will wait to give you that, its just how they do it)...you paid good money for a service that you are not happy with and a decent business will work with you to better the situation. emphasize that you are an LIW bride and that there were many brides to be waiting to see your proofs and read your review about your photography experience! good luck.

I feel your pain because I felt the exact same way when I got my proofs back. I do love my pictures, I just wish there were more pictures I love out of proofs we got back. Stay away from the pictures for a few days and then go back and look at them with a fresh mind and separate the pictures you do like. It stinks that we cant go back and reshoot the day, but for your own piece of mind try to find a way to be happy with the pictures you do have. It was the only way I could keep myself sane.

I'm so sorry!!! Hopefully your video captured some of the moments your photographers missed. It seems like a low # of proofs for TWO photographers.

Maybe they held some back? I know some other photographers don't print all your proofs at first, but if you ask for some kind of CD they will give it to you after a while with every single shot taken that day. I would call and voice your concerns and ask if there is anything they didn't print for you.

I feel your pain.
I know there were a lot of shots that my photogs didn't get either. I've been obsessing over something unrealistic.........wanting to go back in time and re-do it all! I'm finally ready to have the wedding now. I know exactly how I would do everything........a few weeks too late!

Try to focus on the proofs that you love, and the moments that were captured that day by your photographers.

Wow, it just sounds like they didn't care about your day. You tell them certain things, because that's what you want. I'm so sorry,

I would complain and ask everyone at the wedding to send you their pictures. I gave a set of my friends wedding so she would have the shots that I got.

This is something that I'll keep in mind when shopping for a photographer/video.

thank you girls, so much! it always makes me feel better to come on here. i got a TON of FM's and replied to them all, but if i seemed short... i wasn't trying to be... i love that all you girls are there for me. i just didn't have a lot of time tonight and just wanted to answer all of your questions. anyway, i've calmed down and am feeling a bit better, but i still am going to make a phone call this week. i'll keep you girls updated. thanks again!

I do NOT disagree with you at all. You paid good money to get great service, and first and formost that is what they were lacking. I would complain till I was blue in the face. Threaten to out them on LIW, that should scare them
I also agree, you should send thank you cards w/ notes asking your guests to email all photos. Good luck

I am so sorry... I know exactly how you feel, but in the case of the vidographer, not the photog. Some of your friends may have captured those moments you want... check with them.

My videographer was away from his camera not shooting my absolute FAVORITE song, which the DJ announced was my fav song, and I missed having an AMAZING moment dancing with my brother caught on film. I left the dance floor crying hysterically, asking where my videographer was. I'm still so pissed about that because it's a moment I'll never get back - and that's the reason I GOT a videographer. And he lied about where he was, which I didn't appreciate. So pissed, so I'm sorry you feel that way about your proofs. . Can you FM me who you used?

i'm sorry that your photographer disappointed you! that is terrible. hopefully you can compile lots of photos from friends & family who took pics and try and make the best of the ones you have in your proofs.

i agree with CaMacho---you should ask for ALL the proofs. usually they give you a certain amount--but not all the pics they took that day.
