Have any of you heard of a virus called
Rotors...I don't think the spelling is correct but that's how it was pronounced to me...
My boss's daughter has it and she is in the hospital. It is some kind of stomach virus...but really bad. She was vomiting all weekend and became very lathargic(sp??) and they took her in to the ER. They are saying she is very dehydrated and then they said that this type of virus can be fatal if not treated!! I was looking on Web MD but I can't find anything. Has anyone heard of this or know where I can find out more info.?? Thanks Ladies!!

Found this on www.kidshealth.org
http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/rotavirus.html

here's the first paragraph

Signs and Symptoms:
Rotavirus commonly causes seasonal diarrhea in infants and young children. In children ages 3 months to 2 years, rotavirus is one of the most common causes of gastroenteritis, and it often causes outbreaks of diarrhea in day-care centers and children's hospitals. Children with a rotavirus infection have fever, nausea and vomiting, and often explosive, watery diarrhea. After two days, the fever and vomiting usually stop, but the diarrhea can continue for five to seven days. As with all viruses, some rotavirus infections cause few or no symptoms, especially in adults.

That's it!! Thank you so much for taking the time to look for it for me. I truly appreciate it!!!
I just got a little update on her:
She is doing a little better. She has been on an IV since yesterday. They are keeping her there for 2 more days. They want to flush it out of her system.

My friend's baby (she's 2) was just in the hospital with that. It's very contagious, and very scary. She came home Friday and seems to be doing better, thank god.
