that for a holiday weekend, you should send out your STDs a year ahead. Does that sound too early? I'm getting married on a holiday weekend (4th of July), and now I'm not sure what to do. We were going to send them with our christmas cards.

sending them in your xmas card is totally sufficient. my girlfriend just sent out her std's for her wedding this new years.

Hi Rachel,
If I was in your shoes, I would probably send them out 9-12 months in advance. For most people, I would think that this would be enough time to plan ahead for your upcoming wedding.

I am thinking 7 months might be too short since we are having a lot of guests from Ireland. Maybe not a year in advance, but 9-10 months it a little safer than 7. Oh well, better early than late! Thanks girls!

We're getting married Labor Day weekend and instead of sending out STDs, we're sending the invites out 12-16 weeks instead of 8-12.

(All of our guests know about the wedding date by word of mouth so we don't find the STDs to be necessary.)

rachel, you could send to the ireland guests the STD early with the hotel info..
the local guests(you can tell of ahead of time) then at christmas time send out the STD's

Smart girl Emily! Why can I not think straight these days?

I wouldn't send them during X-mas. YOur STD will get lost with all the other Cards.

I don't think a year in advance is too early, but Christmas works well too. If you have out of town guests that you are close with you could always mention it in a letter, email, of phone call.

Oh please, I don't think my FILs even know the out of town guests! I'm thinking of having the Ireland invites and STDs 'get lost in the mail'

My father is sending out STDs at Xmas for his people and my step mother's people.. everyone else learned of the date via word of mouth (or website) and Im October next year..

I'll send my invitations out really early since everyone I know is out of state. (I mean EVERYONE). Question is.. is there such a thing as too early for invitations?

I HATE getting invites 2 months before the big day.. especially for those without STDs or if I forgot.

I was thinking of sending out my Invites in 6 months out. Thoughts?

OK, are they talking about big holiday weekends, like July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.? Because I'm getting married the Sunday before Columbus Day and I don't even necessarily intend to send out STDs. Oy!

I was thinking of sending my invites out a little earlier than usual so that I can have an earlier RSVP date in order to invite people on my B list (if I can afford it) with a decent amount of notice so as not to make them feel like crap about being invited last minute.

Xel, I think you can probably do it around 4 months before and be OK if you're doing STDs 10 months ahead of time.

i sent mine out 2nd week in july and most of the people booked the hotel i found 6 months was plenty and my wedding is new years eve which people usually plan far in advance. if you send an engagement announcement out with your christmas cards this year then next year you can mail the save the date cards rachel!!!

Hmmm....this is true Corinne. Wow, you're getting married New Year's Eve? I had NO idea! Ok, just kidding. BTW, I have had this thank you card for you sitting next to my computer ever since the night of your shower! I am so awful at those things! I swear I will get it to you, so look out for it!

I got married 4th of July this year and we sent out the STDs one year in advance. But almost 1/2 of our list was from out of town and I wanted to give those people plenty of time to plan their trip.
