Why do I have the hardest time keeping my check book balanced?!?!?!?!?!? The worst part is a I use a calculator so I don't make addition or subtraction mistakes. All my checks and payments have cleared and there is a $22 difference in my account vs. my checkbook (in my favor, which is thankfully always the case). What is wrong with me?!?!!?

Thats why I let FH do all that I can't be bothered! I just check with him every once in a while to make sure theres still money there for me to use my debit card!!

I do that to myself all the time. Yet at work I can keep THOUSANDS of their money balanced. GO FIGURE

I think I did that a lot. I used to add up everything like 4x. I was usually off by like 9 bucks, I would find most of it (like 7) and then just say, what the hell, and add the 2 bucks back in. I was bad!
But like dana said - I do not even bother anymore ... I write like 2 checks a month and everything else is debit, and I just check my bank account online every day to make sure that there are no fraudulent purchases, etc.

I'm a big old geek also. I don't use those programs but I have it in excel and budgeted per paycheck for the entire year.
Don't be hard on yourself. The difference could've been bigger and honestly...even with my spreadsheet it's happened to me.

i stopped balancing my checkbook when i got a debit card. i could never track all my checks written and cash withdrawals, so I just check online often.
though, I don't write checks that often - only for the companies that I can't pay online.

Don't feel bad I do it all the time too. I have even gone so far as to re-write my entire book to correct my mistake and then wind up making the same, if not more, mistakes!

Wow, I pay a lot of bills online and put everything into my check book. I only get paid twice a month so I need to see how much I have left when I buy stuff. I don't like guessing!
