I really don't want to go into Brooklyn tonight

I really don't want to go into Brooklyn tonight

Even though I'll see my sisters and brothers and have sangria and spanikopita, my @sshat brother and his hag of a wife will be there and I'm afraid of what they'll do or say, and that I won't be able to hold my tongue.

Well, maybe you just need to have it out!! I know your sister's party is not the place, most likely...but, maybe it all needs to be out in the open?

How does yuor sister feel about it? She obviously invited all of you. Can you ask her to tell him to behave???

c'mon, sangria...spanokopita (mmmm) you KNOW you wanna go!!!!

Re: I really don't want to go into Brooklyn tonight

I have tried repeatedly to have it out and get it in the open but he just walks out, calls me names and makes up lies to my parents (who, incidentally, hae sided with him and blame me for breaking up the family... and they wonder why I'm moving out). I mentioned it to my sister and she was all 'F*ck that! You're my Sissy-boo-boo, he's a crazy jack@ss and you're coming, I miss you!' All my siblings know the story and are pissed at my @sshat brother and parents.

I'm so angry and hurt and resentful of the whole situtation that I can barely tolerate to be in the same room as my parents, much less the @sshat.

FH really wants to go (he adores my siblings... except for @sshat and Hag -In-Law). I've got such a knot in my stomach and I didn't sleep at all last night.

I did, however, find 2 pitchers for the sangria... and man is it good.

You wouldn't believe it... he met a girl, got married and divorced, met another girl and got married again in under 5 years and all before he's even 29. So apparently that makes him the relationship expert and gives him the right to meddle in my affairs.

Re: I really don't want to go into Brooklyn tonight

No sleep 'til - Brooklyn

Foot on the pedal - never ever false metal
Engine running hotter than a boiling kettle
My job's ain't a job - it's a damn good time
City to city - I'm running my rhymes
On location - touring around the nation
Beastie Boys always on vacation
Itchy trigger finger but a stable turntable
I do what I do best because I'm illing and able
Ain't no faking - your money I'm taking
Going coast to coast - watching all the girlies shaking
While you're at the job working nine to five
The Beastie Boys at the Garden - cold kickin' it live

(bridge) No sleep 'til -

Another place - another train
Another bottle in the brain
Another girl - another fight
Another drive all night
Our manager's crazy - he always smokes dust
He's got his own room at the back of the bus
Tour around the world - you rock around the clock
Plane to hotel - girls on the jock
We're thrashing hotels like it's going out of style
Getting paid along the way cause it's worth your while
Four on the floor - Adrock's out the door
M.C.A.'s in the back because he's skeezin' with a whore
We got a safe in the trunk with money in a stack
With dice in the front and Brooklyn's in the back

(repeat bridge)

(repeat chorus)

Ain't seen the light since we started this band
M.C.A. - get on the mic my man
Born and bred Brooklyn - U.S.A.
They all me Adam Yauch - but I'm M.C.A.
Like a lemon to a lime - a lime to a lemon
I sip the def ale with all the fly women
Got limos, arena, TV shows
Autograph pictures and classy hos
Step off homes - get out of my way
Taxing little girlies form here to L.A.
Waking up but I get to sleep
Cause I'll be rocking this party eight days a week

(repeat chorus)

Exactly. I think what freaked him out was that when this first started I told him to stop using my relationship as a platform to work out his issues. I pegged and he's been erratic, mean and cold since.

My mother is emotionally blackmailing me into 'being friendly' with him just so she can maintain this facade of a happy family. She started crying about my wedding and has made me feel that she WON'T be part of it unless I make up with my brother.

P.S. Farah....she totally does! It started when I was like 15 and my other sister is in on it too! When we hang up the phone we always say 'Sissy Boo Boo... Lizzy loves you!' (or Catey or Magaggie...depending on who's speaking)

Well I'm not sure what spanikopita is, but if it's anything like up yours cakes - make sure your brother has a lot of it. and, uh, I agree that you start on the sangria early.

but why does she listen to him? i mean, i know he is older, but i don't see how that means anything. familys are weird, man. and i'm a middle child, so i just get totally ignored sometimes, which is fine. but my sister and i had some royal battles. but we are only a year apart, so that explains a lot of it. your brother is just an a$$ and i think that if all your other brothers and sisters see your side, your mom will come around.

She sees him as fragile... he's been divorced, he's left the Catholic church (to become a born-again christian which freaks my parents out to no end). They want to rescue him.

oh please. rescue him? is he a kitten in a tree? no, he's a grown man who has made his own choices with no regard to what your parents think. so why then is your mom giving you a hard time about all this. he should be licking your feet...
