The only thing that holds me back from it is the fact that you can slip cards out.
Not that I'm worried about my guests doing this, but what if there's another party going on? Where is the cardbox/birdcage usually kept? I've been to weddings where it's near the doors to the room (not cool with me). Is it not okay to keep it closer to the couple table?

fsil and fbil had it on a little table right next to their table... that's what i'm doing! if it's close to your table and in your room, i don't see the threat in anyone stealing any!

Every wedding I've been to I've seen it right behind/next to the sweetheart table.
Honestly I'm even more paranoid than you are and I'm doing a money bag...nobody ain't gettin nowhere near my envelopes!

Cool beans, thanks ladies!
Ilana - I thought of a money bag too...I think I just like the idea of using the birdcage as decor post-wedding. (I know, I can totally BUY one post-wedding...)

My cousin had hers on her sweetheart table so you could go over, say hi, drop your card in. That should be fine.

I was just watching Rich bride poor bride and she bought a money box in the shape of Cinderellas carriage which is all wire and looks like a bird cadge but the whole thing was lined in Satin so you couldn't see in it , and it wasn't so easy to access.

keep the box by the sweetheart table..and honestly... every affair i have been to.. every1 pretty much leaves the same time.. so ppl will be saying goodbye.. when u hand them a favor, they will be handing u an envelope. u and fh shoudl have a system where u hand him the envelop and he wil put it in the cardbox.

I do too, they are just so expensive. I have an issue with the expense part.

ours was right behind our table...it was beautiful! make sure to throw a few blank envelopes in there so that guests know it's being used as a cardbox :).

my RH had a birdcage that someone once left there...ask your RH if they have one, people are sure to leave things behind!
