I really need help & advice!!!
I quit smoking 7 weeks and 4 days ago. Before that I was on a very slow (read: lazy) diet & exercise plan I created for myself and had already successfully lost 10lbs since January. I know my body pretty well (at least I used to) and I know what it takes for me to lose whatever amount of weight it is I need to lose. I've done it several times in my life.
But ever since I quit smoking, everything that used to work stopped working. I've stepped up my workouts to one and a half hours 4 times per week and have incorporated light weights and toning exercises. That wasn't working so I cut out the weights and now I'm doing a full 6 hours of cardio only per week. (And I'm not talking about leisurely walking on the treadmill) I've been on this program for 3 weeks now and have not shed a single pound. As a matter of fact, I GAINED (muscle, obviously) when I was doing the weights. So, yay, I'm more toned and I can breathe better but have not lost an inch so if my gown came in tomorrow, I would not fit into it.
I will admit that I am not doing too well on the dieting portion. Of course because of the quitting, I am not as disciplined with my eating as I used to be and it is extremely, 100 times more difficult to control my eating than when I used to smoke. Still, I eat 3 meals per day and I try to avoid carbs as much as possible.
I really need help, advice, or tips. I know that my body has changed since I quit and I just don't know how to make it lose weight anymore. Any advice from quitters?
