Ok so I am having my reception at Russos on the Bay in Howard Beach, Queens and I am having my wedding on a Sunday.. Cocktail hour starts 6:30. I really wanted to have my wedding photos(including the bridal party) taken at Wesbury gardens, however, I know sunday traffic... and I do NOT want to sit in hours and hours of traffic, going as well as coming, and I dont want to go so early in the morning to take the pics, or take pics before or after the day of the wedding. I live in Brooklyn and I do not want to go by the bridge to take the pics, I wanted something different and really nice at the same time. I just feel that it dosent make sense to go all the way out to westbury, to only come back to howard beach. A friend suggested Botanical gardens, but I am sure I will hit traffic anywhere on a sunday...Any suggestions ladies? I am afraid of taking pics at the beach on the day of my wedding; I dont want to have sand all over my dress. thank you ladiesss

Re: I really need some picture suggestions..
I think if you head to the Botanical Gardens... you can take the streets down to the belt in Sheepshead Bay... even if the Belt is backed up...it won't be that long. Make sure your limo driver knows all routes beforehand. You can take an alternate route from The BBG to Canarsie via any main artery like Flatbush to Avenue H, I or J...etc. to Ralp Ave. etc and cut down to the Belt there...leaving only a couple of exits to Russo's. If you take the streets, at least you will be moving, you'll have a drink and a/c to keep you comfy.... Ideally, pray there is no traffic.

In Richmond Hill there is Forest Park, not far from Howard Beach...it is on the corner of Park Lane South and Myrtle Avenue. They have a beautiful open area as well as the forest..I have seen many brides taking pics there

i agree. if you go to botanical gardens you can take the streets to russos or at least to a closer exit on the belt.

Re: I really need some picture suggestions..
my sister had her pictures taken by the Brooklyn bridge, they were amazing. Most photographers know of the location. This also happened to be a cloudy and partially rainy day and pictures still came out amazing. I am not sure logistically if its possible that day for you, but its definitely a beautiful location.
With botanical gardens, make sure you get a permit, otherwise they don't let you take the pictures the day of.. however, prospect park has some nice picture locations as well.
What about Rockaway Beach, it's right there. There is also Jamaica Bay, if you want more of a green setting. I guess Forest Park is pretty close as well.

If you consider a beach location, how about Coney Island with the board walk and Wonder Wheel in the background? Your wedding is May 2nd...day after mine :)... before summer crowds really roll in. You also have the water, rocks and believe it or not, I saw some couples take pictures in and around the aquarium.

Maybe drive around and look at local parks. We are taking pictures at a local park that is special to us. No fees no permits for this particular park.

I live in Brooklyn and are also taking pictures there after our Church. We are going in the Williamsburg area down near the industrial warehouse area. If you're familiar with the area along Kent Ave. It's right along the water and there are a few grassy park type areas as well. There's the Pier on Long Island city. It's has a great view of the Empire State Building and a grassy park area as well. You can get many different feelings from that one place.
