I went to the church today and found out that I cant have the hour mass like I wanted... so I dont know what to do with the time line for my wedding.. as of right now I have 2 hours between church and hall and it is a 20 min drive at most. I would move everything up an hour but dont want the wedding to end at 11pm. There will be strawberries & champagne to keep them busyfor a little while but.. do I make the CH 2 hours instead of 1? ( but FH thinks they will then fill up on all CH food and not eat dinner) Do I make it an hour & a 1/2 and add a half hour onto the reception? I think it would be weird to add the whole hour to the reception b/c its already 5 hours with the viennesse. Please help me!!! any ideas are welcome!!

Re: I REALLY need your help girls!!!!!
I would start the cocktail hour 30 minutes early so it will be an hour and a half.
I think your guests can kill an hour between the end of the ceremony (one hour is killed with travel time & the longer cocktail hour).

Re: I REALLY need your help girls!!!!!
I went to a wedding yesterday that the ceremony started at 5:15 and the ch started at 7.30, so there were 2 hours between, with the reception about 30 mins away. no one seemed to mind. people will find a way to fill the time. just keep what you have and don't stress it

Can you make the ceremony a little later? Maybe that could help?

Re: I REALLY need your help girls!!!!!
no the church is only available at that time.. I talked to my FMIL and decided to leave everything as it is... lol im so stupid I was thinking all these people would have no where to go.. but not everyone goes to the church anyway - plus my mom lives up the block and his mom lives very close so worse comes to worse whatever people decide to come to the church from my family can go to my moms for a little bit and his family can go to his moms. thanks guys!

I agree. You defintley don't want to make the whole CH and reception any longer than it is, since you are saying the receptions is already 5 hours. And 2 hours between is totally fine. I am in the same situation with the drive and all. The guests can also stop at a bar too unless your catering hall as a bar/restuarant in it, as mine does...you'll be fine

Re: I REALLY need your help girls!!!!!
one of the last weddings I went to I forgot my shoes and my jewelery (thank god not the dress I was supposed to wear) Thank god there was a 3 hour lag between the ceremony and the reception because I dragged my date shoe shopping.
Not to say that everyone will be in the same situation, but I think it'll be just fine. Leave everything as it is and it will still be wonderful. If you want to kill time at the church have your receiving line there (if you planned on having one)

I like Christine's suggestion of starting the CH a half hour early.

half hour extra inst bad but the cost can add up. Crest Hollow wanted an extra 3 bucks a person.

Are you getting married in a church here in CP? If you are, I would think the drive out to the Island would be much longer than 20 minutes considering the traffic, no!?!?!?

Re: I REALLY need your help girls!!!!!
Actually the church is in whitestone - st. Lukes. And Sandcastle is only in Franklin Square.. me and my FH went out there the other night for something and we got there from our house in CP in 10 min! - but there wasnt any traffic at all!

oh I didnt know it was only in Frankin Square, that does make a huge difference. I would seriously factor at least SOME traffic time in there though!

I would not sweat it ,we went through the same thoughts but then I though about how many people actually show up to the church so for those few peopel I would not mind especailly since alot of the people that go to the church usually live close by so they can go back home and kill time, if anyone aks what to do recomend a bar, there are a few right by the sand castle.
