I ruined the outer envelpes for my invites!!

I bought my printer in June and never had a problem and now that I am doing my invites...there is black ink leaking from my printer and smudging onto my outer envelopes. I just had to order another 100 envelopes. I'm so pissed...it was fine until I had to do something important. I keep calling dell and they tell me to read the owner's manual to find out what to do. I did everything possible including buying new cartridges that cost me $70 and it is still leaking ink! I'm so pissed!!!

Try performing the cleaning function on the printer. I find if my printer is streaking I do the clean thing and it seems to make it better!!

Have you tried to print out on regular paper? Does it streak with that? If not, your envelope maybe too thick for your printer!!

Make sure you are using the right kind of ink for the printer. I bought ink that was 'cheaper' and not Epson ink and none of my printouts came out right. Also, the paper on the envelopes may have a special coating that doesn't allow the ink to dry fast enough. Especially if you are printing at a high resolution. I would take 1 envelope, open it up, then just try printing at different resolutions. Also, try the nozzle cleaning utility. I print a lot of images for school, because I am a graphic design major and I come across these kind of things on a daily basis. Nothing like spending 16 hrs on a document and have it smudge 10 minutes before class starts. Hope this helps!

try blowing out the inside of the printer - sometimes accumulated dust can make a cartridge leak then take the cartridges out and clan the heads with a qtip with a tiny bit of ethyl alcohol on it to free up any residue on it - that will work most of the time - tiny bits of paper tend to accumulate ont cartridge heads and if enough of it is there will wick the ink right out -
are the envelopes particualrly soft or textured?? that will make more lint
let us knwo how it turns out

That happens to me when I try to use fancy papers too. If you have an ink jet, like me, make sure the papers say they are for 'ink jets'.
