I used ground turkey meat and while it was browning it smelled kind of funky, but I thought maybe because it was turkey and not beef. Then I added the Manwich and it tasted even worse. I had one bit and gagged... How is it possible to screw up Manwich??????? Next time I'm sticking to beef - trying to be healthy with turkey and it was gross!!
I made it with ground turkey once and we didn't like it.

Re: I screwed up Manwich
I made it with ground lamb last week. Also added some garlic powder, emeril's italian spices & cumin to it and it came out pretty good.

Hmmmm...maybe the ground turkey was bad? I've made Manwich with turkey many times without a problem.

Re: I screwed up Manwich
I only use ground turkey (quite frequently) , no ground beef since I don't eat red meat and it should ONLY smell bad if it went bad. It shouldn't have a funny smell just from cooking it.

I agree...sounds like the meat was rancid.

It was the meat I bet. I have made Manwich with turkey and no problems.
Once meat smells funny- don't eat it. Yuck.
