I should be frustrated...but I'm not!

I should be frustrated...but I'm not!

My girlfriend has been engaged for about 4 years now and she decided about a month ago to finally go for it and have a small civil ceremony at city hall on May 7th. Today she tells me that she's pushed it back and is having it 2 weeks before my wedding! I mean, come on, you had 4 years to pick a date! But I'm being cool...not getting worked up. I'm just glad she finally set a date!

On top of that, I got an invite in the mail today for FH's cousins bridal shower. Her sister is throwing it 6 days before my wedding...sheesh!!! like i don't have enough to do that week!!! ah well, i'll just drink heavily while i'm there!

I had a similar thing happen to me. Everyone else was up in arms about (my mom, etc.) but I figured there's nothing that I can do about it, so why bother worrying about it! But it still stings just a little...

i know what you mean....FBIL graduates from college and thanks to the meddling g-ma, the party got moved to June which is also the month of FFIL's 50th b-day and the family picnic (which is secretly being combined as one event) but FFIL wants to have neither to go on as our wedding is 2 weeks later and he wants the summer to be about us (me too but you can't control some things). The bigger issue is that we have to invite many of the same OOTs to all 3 events and FFIL doesn't want a graduation party or a silly picnic to keep people away from our wedding (he requested NO picnic last summer seeing that our wedding would be the week it normally is and the same people & more would be attending the wedding).

I thought something like this would annoy me, but it hasn't...meddling gma has....she wanted FMIL (and she was not offering to chip in) to rent out a house in SC (gross IMO) for us all for a week to celebrate.......I told FMIL that I was putting my foot down and that we (FH, me and our daughter) would NOT be attending such an event 2 weeks before our wedding... travelling that far was out of the question....then she offered to pay for the flights, I told her it wasn't about that, it was about being 2 weeks away from our wedding and being in SC for a week and that I wouldn't be able to handle that kind of stress. That idea got nixed rather quickly.

good job on not being upset though! some people will always have poor timing.
