FH and his mother have a very strained relationship (all on her part).
We sent out our invitations last week to his parents, we got the RSVP card back from them today with just his stepdad's name and the number 1 in the amount of guest attending.
How can someone not go to thier childs wedding?
He was man enough to put aside her foolish behavior to send her an invitation.
I really want to call her up and tell her what a lousy mother she is but I won't do that.
FH says he's fine but I'm sure it must hurt a little. He said if she doesn't really show she's completly out of ours lives, not as so much as an x-mas card will go to her. I have to say I agree. Told him I would support him in any way he wants to handle her.

wow thats aweful. idk what their relationship is like, but to NOT go to ur own child's wedding is ridiculous. she should be able to put whatever it is behind her and show up. im sure she'll regret it if she doesnt.

Neither of my DH's parents were at the wedding- his dad couldn't fly in from PR and his mom was not invited. While it's very sad-we don't get to choose our family and sometimes people just don't get along. I'm sorry for your situation!!

My fave motto is Friends are God's way of making up for family. All you can do is show how much you love him. So sorry you are both going through this.

THat is so sad. FMIL and I don't really get along, but not matter how much she makes me cringe I would still expect her to be there. This woman needs a good slap across the face. Does FH have any Aunts that could get through to her?

I told my mom about the RSVP card and she told me FMIL did RSVP to my shower, makes me wonder if she will show or not, if she does will she say something or pull some stunt. Wedding planning is stressful enough without worrying if someone is going to try to ruin it for you.
FH won't go having family chase her, he said we aren't going to drag anyone kicking & screaming to be at the wedding, I feel for FH cause it was just last week his best man told him (via text message) that he won't be able to be at the wedding.
We decided for the wedding we will reserve a seat for her in case she changes her mind. ANd if she don't show as much as I hate to waste money, people can see FMIL's empty seat and let them draw their own conclusion.
We're tired of giving her second chances, she's not a good person. She only wants to talk to FH and is nice to him when she wants something. We've frankly had enough. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise that she isn't going to be there.

That is horrible. At least his step-dad is coming. FH was hurt when his mother cancelled last minute on my shower so I can only imagine how badly your FH must feel

im so sorry he has to deal with her and her nonsense. but calling her will give her the reaction shes looking for, hopefully his stepdad will be able to talk some sense into her, at least one of them is an adult

Actually I know exactly how you feel. My MIL did NOT show to the wedding and even worse, she just didn't show, she RSVP yes. Unfortunately there are people out there that are just plain selfish. Like you, I felt horrible for DH. But I have to say it was for the best, he feels so much better now and as far as he is concerned he doesn't have a mother. If you need to talk FM me.

As a Mom myself I can't imagine anything keeping me from my child's wedding. That being said she might come around and if she doesn't she is not the kind of person you need in you lives.

This is something that I will never understand. My sons are my world and the thought of not being at their weddings would kill me. Please give your FH a motherly hug from me.
