I still need a job
I got excessed from my school in June and I still don't know where I am going to teach come September. I am still trying to get a job on LI. Does anyone know if their school district is hiring?

I heard bayport blue point....they have many openings in the elementry schools...where did you work?
Howard Beach. Thanks for the info.
Once again, thank you. I happen to be an elementary teacher with my masters in special ed. so it's perfect.
Longwood SD is hiring. Try there website. Also try William Flyod for Special Ed.
According to Bayport Blue Point's webiste, there are no openings and according to Longwood's, they're only looking for Family and Consumer Sciences and a Social worker. For those of you that are saying there are openings in those schools, how do u know?
I am a teacher and a few of my friends are as well. It's all word of mouth. I do know that most of the school districts are closed for the next 3 weeks. In mid-August they tend to hire, because people decide to resign, retire or get another job. If you can , send your resume directly to the principal.
Try NYtimes.com there were a lot of openings.
Definitely send your resume to districts, even on blind chance. Subbing is good, our school is always looking for subs. Also, some schools may have agreed to adopt incentive if it comes down from NYS, so more retirements may come in August.
i wouldnt just send your resume.. last year when i started to set up my classroom for the year- i teach in east meadow- in the faculty room i noticed the overflowing mail in these bins- and a lot of resumes were in there. you can tell by the paper and envelopes. i felt so bad that people are out there hoping that they'll get a phone call meanwhile the resumes were just sitting there until mid September... i would personally drop off oyur resume to the school districts that might be hiring...
Wow! My mom suggested the same thing (hand delivering them) and I thought she was crazy. She told me that in Garden City, where she used to work, if the principal saw someone all dressed up dropping off a resume, that she'd interview them on the spot in anticipation of openings. I called one school and they told me to bring it to administration. IT's so hard! I should have gone for SPED. There are so many more openings.
