I swear, he's driving me to drink!

I swear, he's driving me to drink!

Paul fell AGAIN and landed on his mouth AGAIN. This time, we went to the ER b/c he tore the little piece of his gums that attaches the upper lip to the gumline.

I AM GOING TO LOSE ALL MY HAIR WITH THIS KID! I have to WORST headache!

DH and I are seriously thinking about investing in a full coverage helmet and face shield! This is insanity! In the ER, the triage nurse asks, 'Is this your first?' I say yes, of course. She just chuckles and says, 'I have 4 boys.' I ask, 'Well, do you have any tips for me?' She says with a smirk, 'Four ounces of wine with dinner, every night.'

I don't have wine in the house tonight, so I'm sipping a rum and diet coke and DH is having a Heinekin. We are just DONE with this week!

Fortunately my son never went through the clumsy stage, but we've had a few trips to the ER in the middle of the night with illness, and it'll make you go gray VERY young.

I think the liquor stores are still open...might be worth a run out!!!

Omigosh Claud! I feel so bad for you! I hope Paul is doing OK tonight. I guess he's at that independent & daring age. I'm scared of it myself.

Enjoy your drink! You deserve it!!

Last summer my one nephew was always bruised up. He's very fairskinned so his bruises always looked horrific! He would have been around Paul's age at the time (he will be 3 next March). He either had a bruise coming or a bruise going every time I saw him.

I'll have draw upon your advice once you survive this stage.

Stacy - unfortunately, I'm already gray, so that's why I say my hair will now fall out!

Liz Thank you, my friend Paul is fine - it's amazing how fast he bounces back! He was a doll in the ER - the doctors and nurses wanted to keep him! He actually put his arms out to go to one of the nurses! I couldn't believe it!

Jeff and I, on the other hand, are just spent. The panic that goes through your mind when you see blood is just horrible. Then we start bickering b/c tensions and nerves are high....by the time we calm down, we are both on the verge of tears just out of fear! I wish we had a spa tub, b/c we could both use a good soak tonight!

Claud I'm sorry but I'm sitting here with a smile on my face. I feel your pain. As a BTDT mom I can tell you that it will get easier....in about 20 years. . My daughter who was my first child, spent most of her childhood falling down. I swore that child could trip on a blade of grass . Every day it was a new bump, bruise or cut. After a while you will get used to it (you will, trust me) and then you just wipe off the blood, dry the tears and watch Paul head off to play.

I'm glad that Paul is fine. Take a deep breath, get a good night's sleep and tomorrow buy a bottle of wine! Parenthood really can drive you to drink!!

Hope Paul is feeling better.
I see it with our friends boys and they are always wrestling and playing rough. I think I would pull all my hair out. I don't know how the parents stay calm.

AWE Claud !

I get tears in my eyes, just reading your emotion-filled reactions, because I KNOW I'd be the same if I saw blood and my baby crying !!!

Paul is such a little trooper !

That was funny about the wine! I have a whole wine rack full, come on over, as we let the boys roam the house.

BIG HUGS TO PAUL !!!!!!

Ohhhh to You, DH and Paul. I know thats not the kind of 'first' you want for his baby book. But he will be fine and thats whats important. Mom and Dad will learn to roll with it.

Oh Claud, I am so sorry. At least you guys have a good sense of humor and the little guy seems to get right back up on his feet! Hang in there! There are no boys in my family, but from what my DH tells me about what he and his brother got into as kids, you are in for a long ride girl!

I'd say I hope Paul's feeling better, but I'm pretty sure that by now HE is fine, but YOU may still be a wreck, so ~ Feel better Claudine!

Little tangent... the week before my brother's christening my sister (who was 23 months old) fell 3 times, and at his christening party had a few stitches in her lip, over her eye, and about 30 stitches holding her thumb back on!

She grew up into a less daring and clumsy adult, and my mom somehow managed to keep her hair and her sanity. YOU WILL TOO!!!

Re: I swear, he's driving me to drink!

So sorry to hear. Parenting must be hard work for sure. Makes me nervous reading these stories!

Reminds me of that commercial for plastics I think? Where the mother keeps saying 'it will be a miracle if he makes it to 5, it will be a miracle if he makes 10' (all the while as the boy keeps getting scrapes, and bumps from all of his falls) -- fast forward to same boy grown up with his own daughter -- it will be a miracle if she makes it to 5! So cute...
