I swear I did a search on this (contracts)...

but couldn't find what I was looking for. Soooo, since you are all such fountains of information, I need some advice. We're going to book our ceremony and reception tomorrow (hopefully), and I imagine we'll have to bang out all the nitpicky contract details. As an attorney, you would think that I would know what needs to be in a contract, but I'm new at this bride thing, so I'm a little dense about it. Granted, I know that every little thing they promise needs to be put in writing, but exactly what things do I want them to promise me? What things do I need to look for and make sure they put in and what things do I absolutely want them to get rid of if I can?

Some things to have them promise you (depending on your tastes) and include in contract. . .

-# of servers/# of guests or tables
-# of bars set up at cocktail hour and reception
-extras added in at cocktail hour or dinner or dessert
-any add'l liquors above what they offer
-bridal attendant
-valet parking
-if there is a gap between ceremony and reception, will they serve drinks before the cocktail hour officially begins

Outside food
Outside Liquor
Cancellation penalty
Change of date due to weather, etc?
Payment schedule
Tax & Grats.
Number of weddings at that time
Insurance requirements from outside vendors?
Their own insurance coverage for what amount?
Valet / Coat Check?
