But, it is great that FH has stood up for you guys and isn't letting her push you around. I think you have made the best decision- to cover the RD yourself.
That is what we did because MIL was driving us NUTS and DH had to tell her off multiple times during the wedding planning

i'm so sorry you had to go through this, but honestly, your better off paying for it yourselves - they are the type of people who will lord it over you that they paid for your RD and hold it over your heads forever!

We actually went through this with the in laws...well, MIL
she wanted ot host it and the only thing I asked for was to do it at a restaurant with a gluten free menu. Since my sister is a celiac
She then kept insisting that we get it catered at their rental house....and that my sister could bring her own food. I just about blew a gasket.
I said thanks but no thanks
Then she didn't get a say in anything. We just did it ourselves

Yeah, I actually have a sense or relief after FH and I agreed we would do it ourselves.

Ugh, that's awful. But on the bright side, FH is dealing with his family so that is good. It's sad it has to come to this but you def will be better off taking care of it yourselves. Good luck!
