Whenever FMIL asks me 'why the wedding is costing so much?' And I EXPLAIN the endless list to her and then she asks 'Why aren't your parents paying for that?' and I say something like 'Well, customarilly (Sp?) the grooms family picks up the RD' she shoots back with 'Well don't expect anything from his father' they are divorced... but last time I checked he has 2 parents.... uhm, what is she saying, that she is going to help? wouldn't it be nice to tell me with 3 months and 2 weeks to go? She should just say 'don't expect anything from his father and me!' no?

it sounds like she is saying exactly that. why don't you have FH bring up the topic to her and ask her if she plans on paying for it or covering 1/2 of it...(since his father should be partially responsible). I bet she would take that conversation better from him than you. But of course, I am also viewing this from my own situation LOL. I always make my FH deal with issues with his family...that way I'm not the bad guy...same deal with my family's issues. (Trust me...he wins big time...my family is a trip)
