Has anyone ever sent out a save the date to someone and then realized that you probably shouldn't have? There was this guy that hangs out with my long island friends, and we've been friends for years. We've drifted a part over the years and don't talk on the phone anymore but sometimes when I go home, I see him. We also never officially dated but we did hook up quite a bit and I thought one day I was going to marry him. Well, thats done because obviously, I love my FH but I sent him a STD for the wedding because I thought it would be worse not inviting him, since I am inviting the entire group...now, I'm thinking it may be a little awkward with being there. He is an attention hog and really acts out a whole lot for attention and well, it'll be weird for me too, I think just with him being so 'in your face,' I think my FH deserves the spotlight out of anyone. Now, I didn't have his new address or phone number, so I had to send his std to his work (he owns his own restaurant) and asked for him to e-mail me his address so I can send him an invitation. But he still hasn't e-mailed me. So, my question is: is it too late? Would it be completely rude and disrespectful of me to tell him that it may be too awkward for him to be there? Or should i leave it as is?

IMO- I say wait to see if he e-mails you back. If not then don't send the wedding invitation. Then if he asks why he wasn't invited to your wedding you can say it was because he never e-mailed you back and you assumed that he didn't want to come.
If he does e-mail you back then I'd just have an e-mail conversation with him (it's always easier) I'm sure he'll understand. Just tell him that it would make you uncomfortable having him there. Or you could tell him that you and your FH gave an agreement..... 'If you've hooked up with them then they're not invited' Just say you forgot. lol

I would wait to see if he emails you back. If he doesn't maybe he would rather not come, and then you have the perfect out.

Definately wait to see if he emails you back. If he does I would say invite him, but hope he doesn't. If you wouldn't feel completely awkward telling him you made a mistake then go for it...Just I know if I were the person on the other end I would be a little cross getting 'uninvited'. It may effect your friendship later on when you hang out in your group.

Girls, you're right. I don't know what I was thinking. I knew in the long run I probably couldn't go through with it because I'm too neurotic and I'm sure it won't be as bad as I'm thinking, but it was a thought that I threw out there in hopes that there was something I could do....oh well, there are worse things in life!

I know technically it's wrong to send a STD then not invite the person but given the circumstances, I think it's okay if you do not invite him. If he would make you or FH the slightest bit uncomfortable since he is not family or a real obligation invite, don't invite him. Sometimes you have to throw etiquette out the window.

There are going to be SO many people at the wedding, that I don't think you'll even really notice him.
I would keep the invitation.

I have my fingers crossed for you that he doesn't email back
but I think that if he sends you his address you need to invite him.

I don't think you need to invite him --you have the right to change your mind --he probably doesn't want to be invited either --or else he would have emailed you back.

Re: I think I did a bad, bad thing
maybe he feels awkward already...which is why he hasn't e mailed you back...(you can hope!) if he does get back, i would send him an invite becasue the std is kind of a commitment and you wouldn't want to feel uncomfortable when you're out with the grop...even if you don't see him...they will know what you did!
