I came home to a message from the midwife's office telling me to please call the office to speak to the midwife. I had the test a few days before I left for vacation so I can only imagine that I failed Now I will have to do the 3-hour test. I need some 'negative' vibes to come my way. I called the office when I got home, but they were already gone for the day. I will post tomorrow when they call me back.

The drink didn't bother me at all. I like sweet, orange flavor so it wasn't a problem. I am going to call the office again at 9:00ish.

Michele, so many people fail the 1 hour. I'm sure you'll be fine. Even if you do end up with GD, it's really not that awful. And we all know that in the end it's worth it!

Jenny - that is exactally what they do. Basically I think it's a really sugary drink and after you drink it they test you in an hour to see how your body did with breaking down the sugar (or something like that)

Michele .... I just went for mine yesterday & am on pins & needles waiting for the results. I have my fingers crossed for you that things will be fine .... even if you have to sit through the 3 hour exam.
Sassy ... this test is given at around 25 weeks to all pregnant women to test for Gestational Diabetes. They are checking to see that your blood sugar is not an unsafe levels, which can be cause complications at this stage. If you fail the first test , (they make you drink a liquid, then take blood after waiting an hour) ... you have to go for a more intensive test which takes 3 hours. If you are still coming up with blood sugar levels too high, then insulin is given to lower it.

Test results were borderline so I have to go for the 3-hour! But I am making Scott come with me. why should I sit there alone when this is his baby too. He didn't want to come but I told him it was unfair for me to have to go alone. I am going next Tuesday at 7am I hate early mornings.

Sorry the test didnt come back Great.. hopefully the 3 hour one will.. It's good your going with DH.. I have to make an apt for mine next week and the told me I should take somoene with me incase I feel a bit weak to drive home ( from not eating) I didnt take the one hour.. because Billy was born 8 pounds 8 ounces and there is a case of diabetes in the family he wanted me to skip the 1 hour and go right for the 3
