I Think I Have Found My Dress! (This is a little long)
So this week I hit up a few dress places, some were a waste of time (Estelle's) others were okay (The Wedding Center in Commack) and one was really great (Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point) FIRST of all the ladies there are WONDERFUL. They are so sweet and helpful. I have had in my head that I want a dress with a corset back and lace and she had me try on a Maggie Sottero 'Grace' and it was so amazing. I fell in love with it, I felt a little teary but the reason why I think I know its my dress is whenever I think about it now, I get all excited like I would thinking about my first crush lol. The great thing is the dress comes with a shawl and purse and they said they can make me a veil using the lace from the shawl. The dress there was around 850 and I asked the saleslady if they match prices and they said they did within reason. I called Burton's Bridal today and they quoted me 638!! The thing is I haven't read too many promising things about Burtons and I loved the ladies at Fantasia. I am planning on calling Fantasia next week and asking about them matching the price. Does anyone know if the match prices and how low they might go? I am headed down to NC this week to visit my parents so I can try on the dress for them and get their opinions but I think I am pretty set on this dress. I am so excited! Well thanks for letting me drone on and drone. I don't know what I would do without this site! Thanks Stephanie

I've heard great things about Burton's! I ordered my dress from them as well as my BMs dresses. So far they have been nothing but terrific. They are always there to answer my questions and their prices are awesome.

I don't know much about either place. I can tell you most palces will knock off 10% without much negotiating. Most have offered it right up front...LOL! I have not found the dress yet so i didnt take any of them up on the offer. I would tell them what you found and see what they say. I have heard R.K. Bridal in NYC not only price matches but gives you an additional 5% off. Check out some reviews on the places. If it comes down to only a small price difference go with the place you trust its worth it if the price difference ends up being minimal (under $100 difference).
Good luck! The Grace dress is gorgeous!

That's such great news! You should post up some pics. Does Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point let you take pics? That's my next place on go to...not only just for me but for my BMs as well. I have found the dresses for them, but I want to shop around more b/4 hand. I'm glad to hear that you have such great things to say about Fantasia. I really should make an appointment there!

I got my Maggie Dress from Renate's in Lindenhurst - complete with EXCELLENT help from Joanne - very attentive - and for about 150 less than some other places - Village Bridal in Babylon, for ex. FM me for more info!

Fantasia is GREAT! not sure who is telling some ladies crappy things, but I had a great experience there---the ladies are nice and the seamstresses are good! I got my Maggie there--they don't let you take pics until you buy the dress though, just FYI for PP who asked.
I would try to negotiate and see what they will do for you!

Re: I Think I Have Found My Dress! (This is a little long)
I did not have a good experience at Fantasia Bridal...I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and the bride got her dress and all the bridesmaids dresses from Fantasia. It was the worst experience for everyone. The seamstresses messed up on 4 dresses, one almost beyond repair because she cut it too short during the alterations and there was no way to add more fabric once it was cut. You didn't notice it unless you knew, but it was uneven. When I was in there to pick up my bridesmaid dress there was a bride in the store who was getting married in 4 days and her dress still hadn't come in. They kept reassuring her that they would get it in and make alterations in 4 days, but that is not what I would want during my wedding. When I was dress shopping I stayed clear of Fantasia Bridal. If you find the dress somewhere else I would go there, and see where other brides are recommending.

I am also going to order my bm dresses there. carole is great, i feel really comfortable with them. the bm cap for alterations is $55!!!!
i have many friends who have used burtons and they were all very happy.

Re: I Think I Have Found My Dress! (This is a little long)
Thanks for all the input ladies. I spent the day calling around to a few other bridal stores and I got an even lower price at Bridal Elegance in Dix Hills. I mean its not a tremendous dip but they only charge 625 for the Grace dress and that includes the shawl and purse. Maybe I should call Burtons and see if they would give me that price as well. Thanks again for all your help. While I am at it, does anyone know anything about Bridal Elegance? Should I go with them?
