I think I have my gown...

I think I have my gown...

While at Lord & Taylor's the other day, I went to the designer gown department, which I found out no other L&T location has. They had a couple of gowns on sale at ridiculously low prices, but they were sample sizes of 6 and 8. I found a gorgeous navy blue strapless organza gown that is a bit too snug right now. It's a full A-line with satin trim and a long fishtail bottom, which I will probably have removed. Since it can be returned at any time, as long as I keep the receipt and the tags are in tact, I figured I can't go wrong. I had to have it. And wait til I tell you what I paid!
The original tag says $2,400. It was reduced to more than half, it was on clearance for 40% off and I had a 20% off coupon. I walked out of the store with it for $533. It's in perfect condition and you'd never know anyone ever tried it on.
NOW to make it fit! Groomsmom - any tips or good recipes from the South Beach Diet? Low carbs helped me take off almost 20 lbs. but I put 5 back since my daughter's wedding. I think not sleeping before the wedding made the lbs. slip away more easily.
I just had to share this.

Re: I think I have my gown...

Hi Mary
Congratulations on finding your gown. It sounds beautiful. Have any pictures to post? Your good at that
I love the great deals. I bought a gown for my sons wedding and when I got it, its absolutely beautiful, however, with an informal attire, it was much to dressy, so I figured I'd save it for my daughters wedding which was perfect.

My daughter and my mom were shopping for my moms gown and my daughter found a much better MOB gown, more suitable so she bought it for me. The original price was $350, and with all the clearances, the final price was $30. Its beautiful and as only daughters would know best, the gown is perfect and back to the original color that I wanted, eggplant.

Now I'm stuck with the other beautiful gown that I can not do anything with because I purchased it off the internet.

Send over some pics, I love to see it, and Groomsmom, send over extra secrets of weight loss. I'm not a good dieter.

There is a great website for recipes. Look on Prevention.com, then go under South Beach Diet, chat room.
Do you have a picture of that dress? Sounds great!!!!! I love your other dress from your daughters.

Re: I think I have my gown...

Thanks Frescabride (Hi!!!) and groomsmom. I don't have a picture but once I lose the weight and it fits properly, I'll have my husband take one. Anyone ever hear of Melinda Eng gowns? Is it a Lord and Taylor brand maybe? I don't know. I should have asked. The saleswoman was such a lovely woman. She even gave me the name of the seamstress who she said I should insist on - not to leave it to chance. Some people are just so nice!

My grandmother bought a Melinda Eng gown for my wedding at SAKS. It is really pretty.

Am, I'd love to hear more about your grandmother's dress. What color and style is it? Which Saks did she get it at? Their fabrics are beautiful.
