And I'm not too happy. I really wanted it to be a surprise. My mom made a comment about my cousin's (MOH's) 30th bday when I showed her a dress I bought for either my RD or my shower. Her comment was 'Well I don't know what's going on for your cousin's bday'. I even told FH to tell my mom to change that excuse because I felt that spoiled everything. I don't even know what one had to do with the other. Well, got an 'invitation' for my cousin's bday for June 27. So... I guess FH didn't tell my mom to change the excuse. I will actually be more surprised if I walk into the restaurant and it really is for my cousin.
ETA: Even if you suspected it was your shower (and it was), were you still surprised?

even though mine is far away i think i figured it out.....so now my mom keeps droppping wrong hints on purpose...maybe your mom is doing the same

I honestly thought that my brothers e-party was my shower..then the morning of my shower (which was not the e-party) I kinda got tipped off, and was suspicious for the rest of the day, however, there was still that part of doubt in my mind where I was prepared to be completely wrong! Well I wasnt, so yeah, I was still kinda surprised when I arrived!

Ha, I knew when my shower was and when I walked in I felt like such an idiot b/c NOBODY was paying attention. You know when someone usually looks out for the 'guest of honor' and says, 'SH! SH! She's coming!'...Well, nobody did that. People were mingling and talking amongst themselves when I walked in. So, I just screamed, 'Ummm, SURPRISE!!!!' And then it was a total delayed reaction...people turned around and were like...SURPRISE! It was a little awkward.

I love surprises and wanted to be surprised about my shower...but i wasnt! i totally figured it out!
really tho it was just as good acting surprised!! lol everyone thinks they got ya, but really you got them!
put on a good act let everyone thing you were surprised!! you will still have the best time ever!

I had to fake it a little since my BBF made it quite obvious to secretly invite me to dinner a month before the wedding. And she dragged me all the way from home to her place, this way everyone was at her place and they can 'surprise' me. I never told her that the string from the balloon gave it away near the staircase as well the decor from the side view near the doorway. Even though it might be difficult, try your best to look surprised. After all, it is a bridal shower, you have to understand that it is not anyone's job TO HAVE TO throw one. It's not mandated, it is a customary gesture to honor the bride. Some brides' experiences, simply b/c of timing and money factor never got one. Not putting you down but just beam and be grateful that all the attention and gifts are showered upon you that day cuz you'll be on spotlight.

My Family did that.... and there really was no party for my cousin and it was a few week b4 that, so that threw me off :)

I'm just going to forget it. Maybe the 'invitation' was some sort of decoy. Like to throw me off thinking that is the excuse. I dunno. I understand this is something that isn't mandated and I will be lucky for anything that may happen... Only time will tell.
