I think I need a lawyer...not sure where to start

I think I need a lawyer...not sure where to start

I've tried reconciling compensation issues at work for almost a year...emails, conference calls have got me nowhere!

I think I need to secure the services of a lawyer who specializes in employee rights, but I'm not sure where to start.

I don't think I'll be able to pursue this in small claims court; $ is too high.

I'm just afraid that lawyer consultation fees may end up costing more than the compensation I'm trying to recover. I'm assuming that if I sue my company, I'll also be out a job.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I'm besides myself. I liked my job, but it's hard to keep on doing a good job when you feel your being treated unfairly.

Anyone?

Can you clarify a bit on the issue? Are you not being paid the same as other people doing the same exact job? What kind of proof do you have?

In the end, I hate to say it --- but often the best way to change your situation is by walking out the door to another job. Unless this is a case of unquestionable discrimination, you may be marking yourself a trouble maker which could cause you trouble down the line...

YUCK!!! SO sorry you have to deal with this!

I'm not sure exactly what your issues are but does your company have an Employee Assistance Hotline. We have one in our company and any issues that arise an impartial senior manager gets involved and tries to bring both sides of the table together to resolve the issue. Or maybe try your Human Resources Department.
