I'm in a dilema....I booked a DJ that now I'm having second thoughts about. I put down 250 non-refundable deposit and I think I found another dj that I really like. Do you guys think that I should book the dj that I really love and take the 250$$ lost. Or just deal

Re: I think I rushed!!!
Music is a really important part of the reception because it sets the tone for the day/evening. If you are POSITIVE that you want the other DJ and you are sure they will do a better job then I say forget the 250 and go with the one you love. It also depends on how tight your budget is..if you dont have the money then maybe you should consider staying with the ones you booked so that you dont miss out on the money

Well, why don't you like this DJ? You have to ask yourself that question. Music is a very important part for your wedding to be successful. So if you really have your doubts, I would just loose the $250 and go with who you really want. You will be happy later.

If you really think it'll make your wedding that much better, I think $250 is a small price to pay. Just really consider whether you really think it'll be better!

I agree with most everyone else. Take the loss. DJ is important

I think you should give both the DJ's some thought before making any decisions. If you still feel that you like the other DJ better then lose the 250 and go with the DJ you REALLY like.

Re: I think I rushed!!!
I started worrying because I need a lot of ethnic music played and I asked him about a particular artist that is very famous in reggae and he was not familiar with him. At first it didn't bother me, I felt he had plenty of time to catch up but all of a sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks...and I started to worry.....The thing is we are kind of in a tight budget too, we are paying for everything ourselves!!!

Besides from him not knowing about a particular artist is there anything else you do not care for?
I know what you mean about wedding budgets. But you don't want to be unhappy with your DJ.

No...besides that really nothing. He was very professional, personable, and had top of the line equipment. I spoke to my FH about it and he told me that I should tell the dj honestly how I feel and that he is sure that he will try to reassure me ...my FH is worried about going over the budget...

I would go back to the first DJ and check him out again. Sometimes, when we book things, we forget why we picked them in the first place. If not, you can try to give him some guidance as to what you specifically want and see if he can accomodate it.
But if you really don't want to work with him, then I say take the loss and get the guy who's going to give you the best day.

Re: I think I rushed!!!
If the DJ you booked is only worrying you about the one artist, I would not loose the $250 over that. I would speak to the DJ & explain your concerns...If you have CD's with that artist on it, you can always lend it to the DJ...Also the DJ might buy the music you requested....
If you are in a tight budget, that $250 might end up being a breaker & you don't want that
