I think i want to start my own business

what does everyone think?? good ideas? Ive always been crafty and good with making things ( pottery, art work, cake decorating, sculping ect)

So...I think i wanna start making cakes in my house.....i love to bake and decorate cakes and i think it would be a good business and i could do it from home when we have kids...sound like an idea?

sure why not?? im always trying to come up with stuff liek that
FH friend does cake baking in her house and shes done pretty well with it!

she makes a few and goes to fairs in the spring and sum,mer and cute piecees up and put her cards out for people to take!

its a great idea! you can even sell those things on etsy...its a great site for people who are into crafts of all kinds (including baking)

Good for you!!! Do you know anyone in the business? Start asking around & get all the information you can, about costs, what to expect etc. so you have some fewer surprises. That is soo great that you are into crafts. I love that stuff but never have enough time to do what I like.

thanks girls!! i think it might be something i just do for fun at first and then if it takes off ill put more into it. I also was thinking i could give cards to my jewler, she designed and made my ering and i always am handing her cards out so we could advertise for eachother hehe

It sounds like a great idea. Theres a lady in CI that makes cakes out of her house and we always use her for parties.

I say go for it, you have to start somewhere. My grandmother had a buisness making her famous cheesecake and apple pie. She loves to bake and made some extra $$$. She loved doing it.

I think it's a great idea. My sister started a business a while ago making cakes (she went to school for culinary arts) - it just really started but she is hoping to being able to make extra money off it soon. And I want to start a little side business making cards and scrabook pages people can frame - celebratory pages like for a baby's birth, a wedding, an anniversary, etc - and I would just leave spots for the pictures. I made one for my sister that came out really nice, and i love doing it. Just takes a lot of time to make up enough items that would actually make me money on ebay! :)

Good Luck! I always think it's a great idea to do what you love... Try it as a side business & if it takes off- great! Also, I love the Big Idea with Donny Deutsch- he always has people that start their own businesses & it's very inspiriring.... It's on CNBC at 10pm

i think it's awesome...and since you are a young woman, you will be eligible for all kinds of grants to open your own business!!!!!!!
