Cindy! Hi I'm new to this website and wanted to comment on your destination wedding posting. Im looking into the same thing for my wedding and wanted to know if you already have an agent helping you and your FH? My friend and coworker used Travel Solutions in Baldwin and their agent was named Ali. Do you know of any other travel agencies specializing in destination weddings?

Hey!! Welcome to LIW!!!
FH and I just went to our local Liberty Travel in Franklin Square. (we've been there MANY times to plan all our past vacations). We dealt with Lori, and she was GREAT! I can get you her number if you want. I'm just at work now and I have her business card and info at home.
She's not really doing the planning for the actual wedding (although she could if we wanted her to), but she explained to us that Sandals Resorts was the best way to go if you planned on having a small, intimate wedding. The reason is because they do so many weddings and they take it VERY seriously and do an amazing job with everything (including photos and video quality) They offer package deals, whereas alot of other resorts have you pay a-la-carte for everything and it can get pretty expensive. Sandals offers a FREE basic wedding package (which I personally think is a GREAT package) when you stay at the resort for at least 7 nights. Then they have add-on packages to, if you choose to do more. The photo and video is extra and the package that we chose for that was $1800.
Basically, what we did was, booked our travel plans and Sandals accomodations with Liberty Travel and then she gave us a confirmation number for the dates that we held. We now just have to call Sandals and speak with a Wedding Coordinator and set the actual date and details up for the wedding. And it's easy from there on in! This is my type of wedding planning!! lol

Well, we are going through the Swan and Dolphin Resorts, who are waaaaaayyyyy cheaper than a Disney sponsored hotel. I did a lot of short cuts to get what I want at Disney. I initally was going to have an intimate wedding and try to sneak a couple of extra guests in, but my date was so popular they ended up having a lottery and we did not get the time or place we wanted Instead, we will be at the resort across the water We are spending more on our honeymoon than the entire wedding together (and that even incudes paying for our parents and bridal party's hotel rooms!).

getting married in hawaii in july 2008. Its a destination wedding for me and my fam. but FH's family actually lives there. So its sorta a destination wedding kinda different though :)
