I think I'm gonna be sick

From guilt! I feel sooooo bad for not going in! I have been asking my sleeping FH since 6:30 if I should go in and he kept telling me that it wasn't that bad to call out in this weather. But now that he's awake and looked out the window he said 'this isn't so bad. You didn't need to stay home. Maybe you should call back and tell them you can make it.'

I'm freaking out!

if it's bothering you so much, then simple answer...GO IN! once you're out there and trying to muddle your way through the snow towards public transport, you'll feel differently..but maybe it will soothe you to at least try.

ETA: I just found out that 2 people who work in my office that live 2 blocks away from the train in Jackson Heights didn't go in. That made me feel better

He works 15 minutes from the house, so he's going in, but not until 11 or noon.

I'm going in late. They told us to come in when the roads got cleared a little! I wish I could stay home all day though.

I understand how you feel...I feel similar. Its sometimes such a tough call. However, if it is too difficult for you to venture through the snow...then you did the right thing. If they dont need you to save any lives or anything I think its ok that you did what you think was right for you.

I just checked my work voicemail, and sure enough my boss is working from home. She even said that it's not too bad by her, but since she brought her computer home anyway she decided to stay home. But...my other boss actually lives on the same street as the one we work on, only across town. So she'll be in, but she usually doesn't need me as much as the other one does.

Especially since she's not in, I don't feel as bad about not going in.

ETA: My boss was calling me to ask me to 'check in' with her once I got to work. Hopefully she checked her voicemail....

I am a totally paranoid driver in weather, so there is not a chance I was going to work today whether I was told I had to or not!! Considereing I have over a foot of snoe in my driveway not sure how I would have gotten out anyway!!!!

FH plowed with the tractor but is not nearly done!

Marcela - that's funny - I lived in JH all my life until now and actually hated living so close to the subway because I had no excuse in bad weather!!! LOL!! Except by the time I'd get to the subway I'd be covered in slush up to my knees!!

never, never, never feel guilty for staying home from work!!!! it is your god-given right to stay home if you feel like it! now stop feeling guilty and go frolic in the snow or chill out on the couch for me i wish i could have stayed home but i'm kinda new here so i don't want to rock the boat yet.

I started my job last year and like a week into it there was a huge snow storm. Everyone ran out of the office at 1, even the people who lived in Manhattan. and I stayed until 6 because I wanted to make a good impression...not sure who I was making this good impression for, considering I was pretty much the only one in the office to see me!

If they plow my block, I'm going in I feel bad for my co worker who actually went this morning. He's all by himself and the phones are ringing like crazy and ALL my bosses are going to be in the office today.

Don't sweat it, in the overall scheme of things, it means nothing. I'm sure you are a very good employee! Your boss didn't seem to feel guilty staying home, right? If you risked life and limb to go to work, when everyone else stayed home, I think it might make you look a little nutty!
