I think I've finally made a decision...

I think I've finally made a decision...

For the past few weeks I have been struggling with different ideas about our wedding... As many of you already know....we found out 4 months after our engagement that we were being blessed with a baby...

Now of course this gift has altered our plans a bit... like: we werent gonna move in together (so we could save $$$) until the summer of 06 before the wedding ( and now we will be moving in together this summer).... and due to insurance reason we will have to legally be married before our actual wedding...

We considered moving the wedding up, but truthfully the money isnt all here right now, and we just dont have the time...so at first we said ok fine...we'll get married before the baby comes...we'll just sign the papers...i wont change my last name, no one will know and then we'll just continue with our wedding in Oct 06' and use that date...

As time passed on...and my hormones begin to control me more and more.... I no longer like that plan... It bothers me that our marriage certificate will always say july ?? of 2005....that the baby and I will have different last names for the 1st year of its life, and that Ryan wouldnt be wearing a wedding ring...when in fact he was a married man.... The I debated which anniversary date to use.... in July of 07' do I in fact tell people Ive been married 2 yrs.. or that October will be a year.... They are silly little things.... but they are things that are completly boggling my mind lately...

I think after alot of thought and discussion between FH and I we've decided to: Go ahead with the civil wedding in July... exchange bands but simple ones and I will change my last name... Then in October at our church cermeony have the pastor announce at the end of the ceremony that it was our renewal of vows in the eyes of God for we had been married in July.... at this wedding exchange our fancy bands...
Then on all our favors have Ryan and Marissa 7/?/05 and either leave it at that or put celebrated on October 27, 2006...

Our anniversary will be the July date since that is when we truthfully became man and wife... and just recognize 10/27/06 as a special day....

Sorry this is so long....but what do you guys think????

I think you have to do what makes you most comfortable and what you chose sounds like the best idea. You do not want to put any undue stress on yourself or your unborn child as you ponder what to do. That is most important. I am sure your family and friends will support your decision. Congratulations on your baby blessing!

I love the idea of putting 'celebrated on' on the favors.. and I think you can celebrate BOTH anniversaries!!!!!

I think you should do whatever your heart tells you. It sounds like it would really bother you not to be officially married the first year of the baby's life, so I say go for it! Congratulations on the baby

A coworker of mine was in the same situation...they got married in a civil ceremony when she was 8 months pregnant and had a whole wedding about a year after their daughter was born. They celebrate the date of the wedding as their anniversary. I think it's up to you though...if it is important to make the july date official then that is when you should tell people you were married.

Congrats on the baby! I love the idea...no where does it say you can't have a great wedding when your beautiful gift comes before the wedding date...weddings are a celebration of love and family..I can't think of ANYTHING better than celebrating with the one you are starting with FH!

Congrats, good health, and God bless!

I think that sounds great. Renewing of the vows is nice. Could you possible have the Renewing of vows on the same date as the civil wedding? This way your date is always the same?

For example, civil wedding this year on July 8th and then renew the vows on July 8th 2006? (totally just made up that date!)
