i think macy's should screen more carefully for new hires...

FH and i are FINALLY going to register this weekend. so i call macy's in roosevelt field, select the registry department, and a young sounding girl answers the phone. i tell her i am calling because i plan on registering with macy's and i would like to know whether i need an appointment.

her response, 'no...you can just come in.'

so i reply, 'ok great, i was just concerned because we'd be coming in on saturday...'

she cuts me off, 'oh...well you need an appointment for saturday.' (ummm...thanks, what if i had just hung up and come in on saturday?!)

then there is a long pause, i'm waiting for her to ask me my name and what time i'd like to make an appointment. dead silence. so i ask, 'what times are available?'

she replies, 'any time, we don't have any appointments for that day'. (ooook...and i need an appointment because.......???)

so i say ok and give her my name and she asks for my phone number, so i give her that too...she doesn't get the number so i give it to her again...she still doesn't get it so i give it to her again...attempting to repeat the last 2 numbers she asks, '41?'

'no 22'

'but the last 2 numbers, 41 right?!'

'NO, 22!'

'can you repeat the whole thing again?'

i repeat it for her. then dead silence. i'm waiting, assuming she is writing my info down ...i'm waiting...still waiting...waiting in silence for literally about 30 seconds...which is a long time when you're sitting there on the phone. i'm about to say 'are you there?!' and i hear ((click))

and she had hung up.

AHHHHHHHHH!!! W T F is wrong w these people?! how do they have jobs?!?!

LOL....sorry it really wasn't that big a deal, but it was just a little annoying, figured you guys might appreciate it...

Absolutely ridiculous; I can't take it sometimes. I hope your experience in the store is better!

OMGGGGGGGGGGG I am a very patient person but something with people like this , I want to scream and I have no patience what so ever . Macys should def have better sceening for their employees, they seem to hire everyone and anyone

I have no problems with the Macys registry dept in Bay Shore - the South Shore Mall (considered a ghetto mall) That dept is actually AWESOME. Roosevelt Field however - is TERRIBLE. Sorry for your experience, that stinks.

I registered at this location as well and everything was great.

I know what the problem is....they pay shhhhit! that is why you have morons working there. Unless the person has been there a long time they are making $6.50 an hour. Trust me I know. I have been working part-time for federated. My store used to be Stern's and when I was 17 almost 10 yrs ago they started me at $7.25. So just imagine 10 yrs later starting people out at a lower rate!

Jess I hope there is someone else there who does know what they are doing for when you do register! Good luck!
