I think my cat just had a stroke

It just goes from bad to worse. My poor Angel has been very sick again. He was sick in November, and seemed to get better for a few weeks. Now it's gone downhill even worse. He's stopped eating again, and stopped going to the bathroom. For a while he was drinking of his own free will, but now not even that. He's even less than he was the past few weeks...this was a fat cat, and now he's a skeleton. 17 pounds...I think he's 5 or 6 tops now.

He's been walking funny past few days...my mom said he jumped off a table and since then hasn't been right. I just heard him crying, so went to lift him up to bring him to his litter, since he hasn't been able to get in by himself. He just collapsed out of my hands into his bed. The entire right side of his body was limp. He literally folded in half. I brought him to the box, and he collapsed in the litter. We both couldn't get him out because he was dead weight.

I don't know what to do anymore. My parents can't afford the vet. He's 10 1/2 years old...not old for a cat.

I'm trying to hard to be positive for once in my life...if there's anything I should be positive for, it's my cat. I had a very rough time growing up socially, and my baby was my best friend at times.

I just know in my heart that this is probably it. Please pray that if it is, it's as painless as possible, both for Angel and for myself

Wow sorry to hear that, my moms cat had similar situation and come to find out she ate some plant thats posineous for cats. She didnt make it and it was really really sad for me my mom and brother. You should take the cat to the vet if its a stroke that can be helped.

Ali, my cat had a stroke a few years ago. I know exactly how you feel. He, too, wasn't eating or going to the bathroom. He just moped around and looked at me strangely, like he didn't know who I was. It's devasting watching them go downhill like that. If you need to talk or have any questions, I am here. Hopefully it is just because he isn't feeling well. I know the vet is a lot of money. I ended up spending 500 on tests and all that, only to find out that I had to spend another 200 to put him to sleep. But...it's possible that it is something that can be treated.

Awwww....I'm sooo sorry. My kitty isnt' really acting like himself lately either... he's 16... and I feel sooo bad. But I want him in my wedding pics...aww. It's soo sad... He's like our son. But I'm hoping your kitty will be OK soon...

i am so sorry. I just hate hearing about animals being in pain and not being well.

I pray that your cat recovers. I'm tearing up reading this-I adore my cat and I dont know what I would do....

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

It has been a very bad night for us. He attempted to make his way to his box, and collapsed. My mother woke up to the noise, and they were able to get him back into his bed. My father is giving him antibiotics and advil...he won't bring him to the vet because he knows what the remedy is going to be.

We just spent the whole morning crying over him. My chest hurts and I feel like I'm going to throw up. Between this, the death in FH's family, and I just found out my mother's cousin too, it's been a horrible week. All I can do is ask for continued prayers and thoughts.

Thanks again girls...it's helping me so much to be able to talk here about this and get it off my chest
