what is it w/me and things crashing this weekend??? i turn it on and then when the desktop comes on i can't click on anything. Then the screen goes to this blue screen that says all this stuff that i don't understand. on the bottom of the screen its says dumping files complete. i really hope i didn't lose all my files. all my wedding stuff (addresses lists program templete songs etc) tomorrow at work i'm going to talk to my tech guys and see if they can help. please pray its not broken BTW- i'm typing on FH's lap top right now

I am almost in the same boat as you. My computer didn't crash but my screen is practically black! I can barely see anything. I called Gateway and it's going to get fixed but will take about a week! I am on my FH laptop even though he should be doing work!

did you install anything new on your computer before this happened? do you have anti-virus and keep it updated?

on that note, do you do regular antispyware scans, and get updates?
it could be something like that..... in a worst case scenario, you may have to reformat your harddrive, and reinstall all programs.... in which case all your files will be gone

i didn't install anything new but when the computer was working i'd get these popups saying they were installing something and i was can cancellng them out (or so i thought)
no anti-virus.

popups usually mean spyware. if it went too far, you may have to reformat. are you able to get to the internet? if you can, try downloading a program called adaware from www.cnet.com. it will take out spyware. if you cant and you dont know any techy computer people, bring it to best buy. they can get your information off the hard drive before reformatting it. i jut dont know how much they cost.
you must have anti-virus and reguarly download the microsoft updates. it keeps your computer healthy.

sounds like the hard disc is going on the pc.. i would get that computer to tech support asap or look up with the error messages on the internet..

no, i can't do anything on it. after i click the E 3 times that blue screen goes on. thanks so much for ur help. if my tech guy at work can't figure it out, i'll bring it to best buy. i can't even put a price on the information thats on there. so whatever it costs to get it back its worrth it.
