I think someone put a curse on me....

I had spent the longest time looking for colored flower girl dresses, I checked every department store, specialty store, etc. I even went to local dressmakers who wanted over $200 to make each dress. Finally, I found an online store, spoke to the women in length about what I wanted, she said she could do it, no problem. When I checked back to make a final decision on the dress, she had a message posted that she would take no new orders until September (My wedding is November). I sent her an email asking her to make an exception since we had spoke about her doing this, or to even let me know if I should wait until September and she would have enough time. I got no response. I called and left a message, I got no response. Terrible business practices- don't you think?

So, I decided to give up on her and start my search again. After many weeks of searching, I found someone else who made colored flowergirl dresses. I spoke to her a few times, she mailed me swatches, etc. Now that I am ready to order, I cannot get her on the phone. The line has been busy for a week. Are they out of business? Are they on vacation? How could I have this kind of luck? All I want is 3 purple satin tea length dresses with lavander sashes. Am I asking alot? Help!

There's a place called Cathy's Touch in Merrick on Merrick Avenue. It's a small place but all they do is children's dresses/suits for weddings, 1st communion, etc., so they have a nice selection. I know they have dresses that let you pick the color of from color swatches, just like the bridal salons. The are also reasonably priced.

If you're interested, give the shop a call and tell them what you're looking for. If they can or can't help you, they'll let you know.

Tara, I am sorry that woman led you on! That is a horrible business practice. Have you tried looking in nice department stores children's departments? I think that the dress you have described may be found in a regular department store in the girls section.

I may be speaking out of turn since I am no where near looking for FG dresses, but why is it possible to get BM dresses in any color, but not a FG dress? It seems like a simple thing to make a dress out of a different color for a FG and I have definitely seen FG dresses in white with a colored sash.

If you are ever in the city there is a place called NYCKids its around 35 -36th on either 6th or 7th. They have a very large selection of formals for kids. There is also another great place on 37th I cant think of the name of it but if you plan on coming in to the city I will make a point of looking for it on my walk to Penn Station. Let me know.
