I think the search is finally over! (very long w/ reviews)
Hi 07 Girls,
I posted this on the 06 Board but thought you girls may benefit from it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me start off by saying, that Photography was one of our most important vendors. My FH is in the industry (he does audio\video work - he kind of edits commercials), so he has a keen eye for quality. At every photographer appointment, he asked about the cameras they use, programs they use to edit and so forth. This is his business, he knows what he was looking for. So here are my reviews of a process that took MONTHS for us to do….
My Photographer Reviews
12th Night – Our choice.
Hopefully I will be signing a contract today (keep your fingers crossed for me girls). We love their work, feel they are a relatively new company and have the drive to want to do very well and please their clients. I love that you have complete flexibility with their packages.
Spellman – This would have been our first choice. They were pricey but we felt that they completely worth it. Absolutely beautiful work, great candids, pride themselves on service. I went there to go book on Tuesday and inquired about the “Full preview set” (ie, proofs). We wanted to get all of our pictures on a CD because since we are having a wedding in Portugal and I will want to print out additional pictures there in another country. They would not do this for us (and you pride yourselves on service
) They said I would have to wait 1 year after my wedding for them to release the copyright on the images and after a year I could get my CD.
In our case, this was not an option and we chose not to book them. We just felt that we are paying $5,000+ (we were getting their best package!!!!) and it’s not like we were cheaping them out in any way. Ultimately, we didn’t book because they would not change their minds.
Duet – Like their work, they were very willing to throw things into the packages… However, after going back again (and we almost signed a contract here too), I just felt that I have seen better quality elsewhere…
Sherwood Triart – Also loved, but they were too pricey for what we wanted to even consider.
Patken – we liked their work also, but the packages were so confusing…. We felt like we were limited to how the albums would look and if we wanted more, we would have to pay more by every shot… just too confusing of pricing but they did have some good work.
Proline – We didn’t really like their pictures, but loved their video.
Artisan – I went to this one recently as a recommendation of someone whom I work with. Very great work, FH was not with me so he thinks that it is like all of the other ones we’ve seen. (Grrr - He kills me!)
Christina Bohn – Absolulety great work, but too much $$ for one photographer and we definitely want 2 photographers.
So, that's it... Pray for me the search is over and everything will go smoothly with 12th Night tonight.
