We booked most of our vendors by august.... even our invitations!.... However, we've procrastinated in the transportation, flower, and MOB dress depts.
We went to 2 florists this weekend (both due to recommendations from LIW brides!). The first one, while he's very professional and has good rates, we found to be a bit disappointing. I thought he was lacking in the style/aesthetics dept... which is really odd for a florist!!!! He totally didn't bother to understand 'my vision' of a victorian harbor wedding. I told him what we wanted, and he proceeded to tell me what we would get (almost no overlap!).
The second one could finish my sentences on what we wanted, and had the exact same ideas. She looked at the pictures I liked, and will make it happen!
We only have to wait until she adds everything up and mails us a quote... I hope we can afford her!!!!

Sugar Magnolias in stony brook. She has some of the most flattering reviews ever posted on this site.....
I don't want to mention the name of the other florist, since I know so many people are happy with their work.... and if I DIDN'T have such a strong opinion of what the flowers should look like, I'm sure I'd be thrilled with them...

I love Heidi!! She is so great... her dad was my history teacher in high school... i used to work at a catering hall and ALWAYS knew when it was her flowers coming in... they were ALWAYS so beautiful!!! great choice!

I think I'd love her too. Our budget is a bit bloated, however. We sunk a good deal of $$ into a fab cake, and an ultra-premium bar.
If it comes out to be too much $$, I'll try to cut costs with some arrangements in order to be able to book her.... FH agrees (* with the disclaimer that he couldn't care less about flowers.... I think he agrees since she will make me not worry about the flowers, and therefore, I'll be more sane!)

She is GREAT ~ I was going to go with her also ~ but she was a little out of my price range... but she is FABULOUS! She is GREAT!

we didnt use her for the same reason ... if she ends up being too pricey for you, let me know, I know someone who has a very similar style and is just as fabulous, just a bit more affordable because she works out of her house...
