I think we're nuts....

I think we're nuts....

FH and I have been talking, and we're not really sure where we want to go on our HM, or that we want to take one at all. We would rather just hang around home for a week doing stuff on the Island. I don't know. We're baseball and bbq type people and we can't see ourselves spending all that money on a vacation. I think we're nuts because shouldn't we be totally psyched about going away? i think it is because we are getting married in the summer and there are so many fun local things to do. Maybe we'll save the vacation for the cold weather, is anyone else delaying their HM?

You know, I don't think that's such a bad idea. My FI and i will probably just go to Montauk for a few days to relax and VEG.
I think if that's what will make you guys happiest, by all means go for it, and it'll save ALOT of $$ too!!!

absolutely...we delayed our wedding by a month (for another reason)

my sister got married in oct...they are going in july

I had another friend who got married last march and went in july...

(we are all teachers...can you tell - summers...lol)

I would think that you should go for a weekend somewhere to a B&B or something...

I get very stressed when I travel, too, and I think that it would be a nicer treat to go away during the school year when we need a vacay more.

We delayed our HM. We got married in November and it was really rainy and windy all week.We just went away locally for a few days.
We plan on taking a HM within the next few months.

We've been thinking about doing this too. What we'll probably do is take a mini-honeymoon right after the wedding (3 days in the Hamptons or something) and then take the real honeymoon in the winter. This is more a decision based on being able to get time off from work and money after paying for the wedding!

That's not crazy at all. I have a few teacher friends that had to wait until school was out to take their HM. I would just suggest that whatever you do, take the time to enjoy each other and do things that you like to do.

if you are big on baseball you should visit a few ballparks you have never been to, like wrigley the bosox. everytime my dh goes somewhere he gets tickets to a staduim and sees it.

We are going to go to Atlantic City for 4 days and then 3 months later we are going on a cruise to tahiti, Fh is a teacher and is off in the sumer. We also do not want to be exhausted and enjoy going away and still have a trip to look forward to .I can understand how you feel. I would do what you feel comfortable doing.

I am not delaying my HM because my aunt is giving it to us as our wedding present. However, had she not I also would have planned a 'mini' moon & something larger down the line(after we got over the $ shock of the wedding). I thinks its a great idea.

Re: I think we're nuts....

Hey Corinne! You're going to need a HM just to relax from your first trip!
FH and I were talking and as of now, we are going to wait on the HM and do something local to get away for a few days. But it could always change between now and then. We'll see. plenty of time

You're def. not crazy, but just be sure that you two plan fun stuff to do, because FI and I did that once, we took our vacation at home, and ended up doing errands and things, in the end it didn't feel like a vacation.
