but now I'm not sure. I just can't find a small evening purse to go with my MOB dress. It's such a bizarre color and fabric even beaded bags don't match the beads on the dress. If I buy a pretty small wedding gift bag for my lipstick and WEEPING TISSUES! will people think it's a gift for the bride and groom and not notice? LOL!!! I'm really desperate. Has anyone ever had a similar problem?

Re: I thought I was kidding when I thought of this...
can you get a dyeable bag, and dye it to match the fabric color of your dress?
edited to say: I'd probably freak out if my mom were walking around with a gift bag all day, but that's just me...
I'm....'like that'

What color are your shoes? If you got them dyed to match, you could probabaly get a bag dyed to matvh. or if the are a complimentary neutral, like black or taupe, you could probably find a bag that color or have one dyed that color.

Hmm I wouldn't do a gift bag...I agree with the others, maybe dye something, or get something in a neutral color?

what color is your dress? Maybe you can get a small silver purse to go with it?

Is your daughter getting married at the same place as the reception?
My mom and his mom kept thier purse in our bridal suite, no one ever saw it. Because of this I saw go ahead with the bad and jsut keep it int he bridal suite, no one will be the wiser.
When you walk down the isle, will you have a corsage or a small hand help bo-q? If you are having a small hand help then take some tissues and put them in your hand, while holding hte flowers no one will know that they are there. You will have re-applied your lipstick before you walk down so you won't need lipstick on anything like that during the ceremony. Or if you have a male that you will be sitting with (standing next to) they could always hold the tissues for you.

Here is an idea that mom mom is doing. Get a bag dyed to match your gown (as close as possible) and see if you can use some of the fabric from your alteration to decorate it.
My mom didn't like the sleeves of her gown, so she had them taken off (it is a dress with a jacket and she felt the sleeve made it too bulky)
She is planning on covering the flap of the purse with the short sleeve. She tried it at home and it looks great. She will do it the way you do one of the fabric covered albums and it is great because the sleeve had some beading on it, so the dress will coordinate perfectly.
If you have a hemline or any significant portion of fabric to use, try it!

Girls, I was kidding! Honest! My daughter would disown me if I carried a gift bag around, as I would my mother if she had done such a thing. (It's true how nuances get lost on computer messages.)
Thanks for your responses. My dress is a strange fabric - somewhat irridescent (sounds horrid but it's not!) taupe with silver undertones. If you would like to see it it's a Jovani. http://www.jovani.com/detail.php?col=evening&seq=78 I don't know how to post pictures so you will have to type in the Style#: 2311185.
I was amazingly lucky and found shoes the same color, and since they don't show that much it's okay that they lack the luster of the dress. But the purse is a different story. Once I have the dress home I will try to find a silver beaded bag that matches. So far anything I bought and put next to it looked awful, and because it changes color as you move the fabric I don't want to waste my time with a dyeable because I am sure I won't be happy. I too am VERY particular. I am having a shrug made from the shawl and I asked the seamstress to same me any extra fabric. As an absolute last resort I may have to make a small pouch if I have enough - similar to a bride's money bag for lack of a better description. Thanks, and tell me what you think.

Re: I thought I was kidding when I thought of this...
is it the one on the left, and is that the color? It looks like silver would work? or gray? It doesn't have to matchexactly, you won't be seen with it too much.
A pouch would be fine, if that's all the material you have left, and you really just want tissues & lipstick.

DEFINIELY the one on the left, and in that taupy-silvery color. I wish I still liked it. I'm not happy about it at all.
Anyway, I will certainly look for an antique silver or something like that. If not, I can make something small, right? Just a little pouch that I would sneak into the reception for those two things. For the church I don't think I even have to take it. My husband can hold my tissues.
Thanks so much for your advice and Junebride for posting the picture. I hope it wasn't too much trouble.

LI Mom...I just wanted to say 'Hi' and I see the wedding date is getting closer. By readings your FMs, I'd know that you'd never pick a gift bag and that you were just kidding..... Like all the other girls, I think a silver bag will work perfect or even better a dark grey bag will match good I think. You still have some time and even though, it looks that you won't find it, I'm quite sure you will find something (either the pouch bag you mentioned) or the perfect purse for your grace in a perfect way!! You will see...you will be able to find it.

Hi LIMOM. Your dress is absolutely gorgeous. I don't think you have a thing to worry about. Something small and silvery will be fine, or the same fabric pouch would also work well.
With the wedding so close, you definitely should not be second guessing your dress. From your FM's to me also, I see what a classy lady you are. I'm sure your dress looks beautiful on and no doubt your daughter loves it.
Good luck and keep us posted!

ItrishTracy, it would be so great of you to post a picture of the bag. Do you think it may be the same shiny fabric? Where did you buy it from?
I actually went and picked up the dress today and what a relief! Brideshelper and FrescaBride, I can't thank you enough for your kind words. You made me feel so much better yesterday. I was practically on the verge of tears all day dreading the final outcome. I don't hate it as much as I thought I would. Now that I'm down to a size 8 (15 lbs. makes SUCH a difference), it's a very becoming style on me. I just don't care for the flashy fabric any more. How do you think it will look in the picutres? I'll know better for my son's wedding in Nov. Right after May 15 I have to hit the stores again and I'm NOT looking forward to that!
Thanks again all of you for your responses and your assistance.

Re: I thought I was kidding when I thought of this...
Oh, by the way, the piece of fabric the seamstress gave me is 16 X 24 inches. Definitely big enough to do something with but I still don't know what! Any seamstresses out there? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you so much! I just want my daughter to be happy with the way we all look in pictures. Everything else will be forgotten.
I answered you over at 'Crafts' also. I appreciate your responses very much.
