The only other registry I've ever seen is for babies -- which I think is fine. This is too funny.

IMO I think it's tacky. You can bring wine/plant or whatever you feel is good to bring to a housewarming.

It's the thought that counts...

I think it's tacky too! I've never heard of such a thing. I've heard of registering for babies now, but that's about it.
