I told my SIL off on thanksgiving day

I told my SIL off on thanksgiving day

I have 4 SILs. Two them had girls this summer, and another one is having a girl in March. I am due in Jan, but I don't know what I am having.

Hubby and I went to one of sister house after our thanksgiving dinner at home. The grandmother of this sister's baby said it looks like I am having a boy.

Hubby sister then says she hopes I have a boy because the family has three girls. This is the second time she said something like this However, this time I was ready for her. My reponse to her was that whatever baby my husband and I have had nothing to do with what her sisters have. Her response to me was we have all these girls and we need a boy. My response was my family have a lot boys, and we would love to have a girl.

Her comments totally p-ssed me off because she wouldn't have said that to the sister that is due in March if she knew I was having a girl, and that sister didn't know what she is having. Secondly, it make me feel that if we have a girl, she would not be accepted like her cousins.

Her statements are really bothering me, and of course hubby is telling me why I let people and stupid statements get to me.

No question here. Just needed to vent.

you should have stopped at the ' I have 4 SIL' part. That's enough for a vent right there.....

That said - this is probably a combination of you being emotional right now, excited, anticipatory - and them just saying things without thinking. Sounds like they want a boy around to buy some boy stuff for! My family is like that - all girls - and every time the announcement is another girl we are like - oooohhh...been there done that bring on some BOYS!

Not a shot in hell that your little baby wont' be accepted no matter what you have. Once it's made it's arrival everybody will be so thrilled with it's perfection that everybody will forget what they were 'secretly' wishing for!!!

Natasha Do not let anyone's comments rain on your parade! Your beautiful baby will be loved plenty...especially by his/her adoptive 'aunties' on LIW!

I have just one SIL, and she *often* has discouraging, dismissive or insulting things to say to me, so I totally understand how you feel. Vent away, girlfriend...I will be listening!
