adopt a puppy!!!! Where should I go? FH wants a big dog, but I want a little pug...I have a feeling I'm going to win this fight! TIA!

Pet stores get their dogs from puppy mills a lot of times which produce hundreds of dogs in really terrible conditions. Health issues and inbreeding run rampant in those places.
Plus they're wayyy overpriced

Go to an animal shelter, don't spend money on a dog. There are so many dogs and cats that need homes . You will be surprised the great breads you will find in the shelters. I found my maincoon cat at a kill shelter in Syosset. Yes kill shelters still exist on Long Island. Look on the internet try http://www.petfinder.com

There is a place called Lil Shelter I believe that is not to far from you. They rescue dogs there.

Agreed. FH went to a breeder to get his mom a yorkie and the dog had so many problems... and it was a reputable breeder. When that dog passed away, they got a hearty mixed breed from North Shore and not a single health problem... they make sure you're getting the type of dog compatible with your lifestyle and they make sure the dogs are taken care of and find good homes. AND you can find pretty much any kind of dog you want there, including purebreds. I'm a mutt girl myself, though
