it gets SO frustrating! i haven't gotten my period since december of 2004.. i frequent the doctor's office for sonograms and blood tests to see if i'm ovulating and teh tests are always, always negative! just had a doc's visit this morning. argh! no good.
i haev the books.. how to maek a baby and a pregnancy book. i def do try to educate myself. not only do i consult my books i also interview friends who are mothers. all very useful and much appreciated. but every time i open that baby-making book i get a lil heart broken. even writing this is making putting a frog in my throat.
being in my position, altho i know there are others who are in a much unfortunate condition, my visual senses is more sensitive! i notice so many women with pregnant bellies or carrying their newborn. i can't help to feel envious. don't hate me here but when i see a teens having children it hits even harder. for the obvious reasons, mentally and financiallly they're more incapable of handling something this huge.
i was on provera for a lil bit then clomid. the results aren't favorable. after next week, my doctor's going to put me on a heavier prescibed medication. i'm trying to be optimistic. scott and i've even come up with a couple of baby names. i even have baby clothes! i'm def jumpin the gun. i know i shouldn't have done all that because i might just be setting myself up for a downfall...
i will have a family of my own...
hope this works out.
thx for listening.

Just wanted to give some hugs and say hang in there.
Have you tried reading 'Taking Charge of your Fertility'? Lots of ladies on the TTC board find it informative.

Re: I want to be pregnant but...
What type of doctor are you seeing.
My friend didn't get her period for a year and then she say a new doctor and was ovulating and pregnant within 3 months.
She switched from a OB/GYN to a reproductive endocronologist (sp).

i have both ob/gyn and a fertility & reproductive medicine doctors. both are great doctors. one's in park slope and the other's in bay ridge. i'm very comfortable with them. they def make me understand teh abc's to this very scientific matter. i have another sono and blood test on sunday and if that's also another negative response then the doc's going to put me on a heavier prescription soon after that. you know.. every time i visit my infertility doctor i have to walk through this hallway leading me to an examination room. in the hallway there's a huge bulletin board. on the bulletin board there's a blanket of TY cards from expectant mothers. so many TY cards but each card is so emotionally sacred. my TY card will join them!!!!!!!!

Re: I want to be pregnant but...
I am very sorry to hear about your difficulties. There are no 'good' words other than I am so sorry and the situation stinks!
Have you considered going to another RE? There is one in Stony Brook, San Ramono that gets RAVES. Sometimes you need a second opinion to find the right answers. My sister struggles with GYN difficults (not related to TTC) and it has taken YEARS but San Ramono finally figured out what is going on. She has a blood disorder, not a GYN problem. The blood disorder is what is causing the GYN issues! Finally, she is getting some answers. Maybe it is time for a fresh set of eyes on your medical condition.
Also, you might want to start to think of other ways to become parents. Sometimes just looking into other ways such as adoption really help you feel empoowered and in control of what is going on during such an incontrolable situation. That has helped other women I know feel that motherhood was going to happen for them, even if not the way they orginally thought. Just something to consider.
I don't ovulate every month either, maybe two or three times a year. We hit it on the right day last June, and now I have my beautiful daughter. Please don't give up hope!!!!

Re: I want to be pregnant but...
I have the same problem as you so I am wondering, why exactly do they put you on provera? Does it help to regulate your cycle? When you take provera, it doesnt make you ovulate right? I am in the same boat as you and my heart truly goes out to you!

Re: I want to be pregnant but...
Provera forces one to menstruate. it's suppose to push out my period ultimately ovulating. it didn't work for me the first time. the first time i took provera i took it once a day for 5 days. right now.. the 2nd time around, hopefully will be my charm, i've been prescibed the same provera 2x (seperately, not together) a day for 7 days. according to the doctor, i should see results in less than a week after finishing the pills. g0d forbid, if nothing happens after a week i should contact my doctor. ho-hum..
just yesterday on the TODAY show there was a segment on infertility. 2 women had written a book on their experience and so far it's been helpful. it's a very easy read and maybe you'll find it interesting yoruself.
book title: A FEW GOOD EGGS authors: Julie Vargo & Maureen Regan.
Best of luck to you!

Re: I want to be pregnant but...
i finished taking my provera pills a week ago and just yesterday morning i found a surprise i haven't seen since december of last year! - it's gonna be disgusting to some of you but i finally got my period and i'm very happy about it. i went to my doctor's for a pelvic sono this morning and the result of it is i'm going back on clomid. and at a heavier dosage this time. instead of one dose a day for 5 days it'll be twice a day for 5 days.
i'm optimistic but i also have to keep my head leveled. i don't want to set myself up for a downfall. but yay! this is good news!
