I want to color my hair red!

What do you think? I am nervous but I need a change. I need some pictures for ideas. Can you girls help me?

How about some red highlights or low lights to start? I think that would look great with your base color, and help you get used to the change!

I have dye ready to go!!

DH was shuffling through my trashy papers & saw a thing on Lindsay Lohan's hair & was like 'You should do this color' and my response was 'It won't make me 18 or give me those boobs dear' ...

But in all honesty, anytime I've ever asked him to help me pick out a color (I've been coloring my hair for 24 years, I get bored easily), he always leans to auburns & reds.

Okay, back to you!! Because you have so much hair (so it will be sooo much new color), I would try something auburn brown (which I've had a hard time finding) or just something with brown still in the name.

FYI ... reds fade the quickiest, so even if you find something you love, you may have to color more often (something to consider depending on the health of your hair).

I get red highlights along with blonde...My natural hair color is brown. My roots look really obvious growing in, and I don't think I would ever go a reddish base just because I would have to get it touched up so often. With highlights it isn't so obvious when roots start to grow in. My best friend has curly hair like yours and gets almost maroonish lowlights that look really cool...I'll try to find a pic but she may kill me for posting...

with your base, I'd start with red lowlights, maybe 2 shades of red.
I've tried red so many times and it just doesn't work as well as other colors. It doesn't have staying power.
Try the highlights and go from there. You can always add more highlights or dye it at a later date.

Are you doing it yourself? if so, you may need 2 boxes. I had long hair in HS & used once box & it just came out like highlights.

No. I would go somewhere to get it done.

I'd do red highlights or go for auburn instead of full out red.

I do the natural instincts (the one that washes out in 8 weeks) the Cinnaberry color.....looks awesome on my brown hair

lol I just dyed my hair Cinnaberry last night! I can't deal with roots so I use Natural Instincts or ColorSpa.

If anything, I would go w/ some red highlights for now. I love you w/ dark hair. You have a nice dark complexion too, I can't picture you entirely red.

I will do a few highlights. The whole head red might be a little drastic. That will be enough change for me for now. Thanks for the kind words and advise!

years ago i started dying my brown hair red...and now that i want to go back to brown, i'm having a hard time getting rid of the red....
