I WANT TO CRY :(

I WANT TO CRY :(

So I really tried to make it happen with lighting. I got all into having cool lighting, I am getting intellegence lighting from my dj and I wanted to do the kinetic lighting as well however, I did price around and I did find like 2 great deals but you know what I would really be putting myself over WAY over budget by doing this. Basically if I dont do the lighting I am good and I could buy clothes for the honeymoon. If I do I will be tight, and honestly will anyone appreciate it as much as me? I want to cry but its the right thing to do :(

Awwww...Don't cry... First...do you know how your RH looks during a wedding. Most places have their own special lighting that they use...it may not be special effects and all that...but they all do something different. You may like it just like that. Maybe you can look for some coupons for HM clothes... This is a tough call...but it really should be what YOU want...the look and feel that you are trying to obtain...and IF you can afford it. If money is goijng to be tight from doing it, then I honestly would pass. JMO

Oh no..you have FULL right to whine... You should hear me sometimes. Like, FH is trying to tell me that we can't afford to get the 'cloud' for the first dance...I'm like...I don't care...I AM getting that cloud...LOL. I'll find 300 somewhere...HAHA. Just keep in mind...it's going to be an awesome day with or without the lights. I had to tell myself that about a lot of things... LOL HTH.

IMO... lighting is an extra so if money is going to be tight by doing it then dont because people will enjoy your wedding the same with or without the lighting

Oh man.
I'm in the camp that lighting really creates the ambiance. Whether it's candle light or uplighting or both. I've seen how uplighting can transform a room completely and is really a work of art. The lightscaper will chage the colors throughout the night and people will definitely notice. That's my take on it.

Clothes are SO cheap- if you are a good shopper. I'd do the lighting and use $100 on 5 really cute sun dresses from Marshalls. Get your bridesmaids together for a 'swap party', they bring spring clothes they don't want and people trade.

The lighting really makes the room. It looks so good!!! I too would skimp out on honeymoon clothes, and splurge on the lighting.

We did no lighting whatsoever for our reception, we just dimmed the lights a bit and had tealights on each table and it was great! I would have felt like it was a waste of $$$ if I had spent anything extra on lighting. Use the money you save for HM clothes and put the rest in savings or use it to do some great extra activities on your HM, it will be much more worthwhile. You won't remember some fancy lighting and your guests will probably barely know special lighting is there, but you will totally remember a special day trip/boat tour/helicopter ride/couples massage/etc on your HM!

Awww!!!! I'm sorry. For me... I really need lighting. I met with a company last weekend and I'm so excited to work with them. I'm waiting to post my vendor rave until we do the RH site visit next week.

I would shop the sale racks..... and its your HM... you shouldnt need too much clothing if you get what I mean

don't be sad!! i know it's hard to make the decision that 'make sense'... or that is 'sensible'...it does come down to what you want more. however, is lighting something you can't accomplish with like loads of candles?? i don't know your RH, so i don't even know if that suggestion makes sense, but candlelight for evening adds a certain elegance and ambiance. then again, you could sacrifice the HM clothes, and do what other girls suggest- H&M and other sales etc. You can totally get a little HM wardrobe going! but either way, don't cry!! it'll all work out and it's going to be a gorgeous, beautiful wedding!!

Don't be upset!

I'll try to be the voice of reason here. It would be nice to have the lighting in a perfect world, but just remind yourself that it's one day. If that money is better spent for clothes for your HM, which you will also be able to wear again after the HM, that's the better value. So yeah, it s/ucks...but that's the more practical choice, and the one I would go with if I was in the same situation.

BUT I am also pretty minimalist with expensive extras.

Aw don't be sad. Your totally doing the right thing. I think sometimes we as brides get caught up in all the little details and want everything to be so perfect but in the end like you mentioned, do any of the guest even notice ALL the little details. You will be more happy with getting clothes for your HM.

Re: I WANT TO CRY :(

uplighting can look really pretty but we decided not to spend the $$ bc honestly, we tried to remember what lighting weddings had that we've been too and we can't even remember what kind of lights the DJ had..... so we thought it wasn't worth the $$!

I am a fan of old -fashioned candles and votives... I think they make the prettiest light!!!
