blonde (from a box.)

Can anyone suggest a good brand?

Be careful. If your hair is too dark, it won't work. There are a few brands that have 'high lift browns' now, that might work.

I use Loreal Superior Preference, but I just went from darkish-medium brown, to lighteish medium brown. ( exciting, I know!)

Once I went to dark blonde & my hair got kinda orangey.

I am not totally opposed to using boxed colour, but it is really hard to get a good blonde from a box.

Also, if you have already coloured your hair, regardless of the colour, then a boxed colour will not lift it to a blonde.....you will need to get a bleach for that (or a colour remover).

Ooooh, no bleach!!
I have light brown hair naturally...And it's got highlights...But I'm tired of it! I've gone box blonde before and I totally know what everyone means about that funny orange color.

I wouldn't recommend doing it on your own. At least for the first time, get it professionally done. Then, once your hair is already lightened maybe you can do it at home? But blonde from your color on your own... I'd be waaaay too nervous!

Be careful. my friend tried to do that it was a disaster...She had to go to the slaon and spend $$ to fix it!!I know it may be less $$$ but I wouldnt risk it.

if your hair is light brown, you codl probabaly go to a dark blonde on your own. Loreal Color Expert comes with base color & highlights, so you could ot the dark blonde one & the highlights make it look a little lighter. I am not sure if teh higlights willlook orangy.

They also make a tone refiner now, that may help if it turns out too orange, but I have never used it.

I wouldn't try going from your shade to blonde from a box. It can really screw up your hair. There are several salons in the city that on Mondays offer color done by assistants for $50. I would suggest trying that instead of a box color.

I tried to go blonde for a box in college - right before graduation.....it was officially the worst I've ever looked in my life....

But, blondes do have more fun
