I want to have a BM luncheon/tea...(UPDATE)

I want to have a BM luncheon/tea...(UPDATE)

The wedding is in February and I would like to have the entire BP, (FG's included) all together at my place at least once before a shower (which I don't even know if I am having b/c they haven't asked me for a guest list that they KNOW I have but I digress )

When do you think a good time to have one would be? I was thinking maybe sometime in November in order to give them all enough time to plan. Or is that too far away from the wedding? Any thoughts?

Me thinks I think too much.

November sounds about right. They better get cracking on your shower Leslie...your day is fast approaching!

End of Oct (after the holidays), beginning of Nov. sounds good. Count me in!

Les, if they don't start planning your shower, I am going to have to unleash the petite beast in me! You'll just have your shower with me at my shower!

Re: I want to have a BM luncheon/tea...

I hear ya. Well here's the deal. My MaidOH is in Europe for two weeks. She is in music management and is very busy. My MatronOH teaches two days a week and is the mother of 2 kids under 5. One of my BMs works full time and also has 2 kids under 5. Their children are in the BP as well. The other 2 BMs are teenagers and certainly do not have the resources or know-how to make a shower. So it lies on the adults.

I am trying to do my best to accommodate their schedules and families when I need to communicate with them, but sometimes I feel as if I am imposing on them when I ask them either for help or input. Emails are written, phone calls go out and I feel like I am going in circles. When I ask more than once about something, I feel they think I am a lunatic.

After the Jewish Holidays next month, I am giving FH my list and have him play dumb asking them if they are making me a shower. I've said this before, but I have gone to every stinking baby and bridal shower in G-ds creation. I'd like to be a guest of honor for once.

Yeah and it won't cost them anything but the gas to get here! I was thinking bagels and cream cheese, tuna fish and egg salad, coffee and OJ or maybe a 3 ft hero.

I was planning on doing something similar the day after Thanksgiving - everyone usually has a 4 day weekend, and I was going to host a lunch and then bring them all down to the salon to order their BM dresses.

Maybe that Friday would work for you as well since all kids will be out of school, yet is not a weekend either?

The teens are only with their father, my brother every other weekend and alternating holidays. I do not know if he has them this Thanksgiving. Even so, they do not live local - they are up in Rockland.

I love this idea. I'm planning on having my BM over for brunch sometime in November. I want to do that thing with the charms and the cake where they pull a charm and it means something. I think your menu sounds perfect.

I think that's a good plan Goldi -

I am doing this in October to actually order the dresses and I am excited. I'm doing a luncheon so it'll be all sandwiches and tasty treats.... Gotta get them all nice and fat for the wedding!!!

That's a great idea Leslie!! I want to do something similar and then when I have them all together we'll go order their dresses. I'm gonna call it our Bridal Party Party!! Esp since some of the girls haven't seen each other in awhile and my MOH doesn't really know anyone.

Don't worry about your shower, there's still plenty of time, I'm sure they're cooking up something!!

your idea sounds very nice- I hope they appreciate the gesture.

my cranky girls are spoiled...since they are having their dresses made, everytime we do measurements or look for materials, I cook for them...and we have mimosas and stuff...It's more like bait to lure them to my house than out of any desire on my part to be nice to them LOL....how else can I get these chicks to schlep from Queens to Brooklyn if they don't have food waiting...even if I go to Queens I have to make something...I feel used

Re: I want to have a BM luncheon/tea...(UPDATE)

UPDATE

ISSUE

I reached out to my brother and SIL in regard to a date for a luncheon and I am getting a lil nervous. The best date so far, barring any Bar/Bat Mitzvah invitations for one of the girls (she is 12) is mid December. I asked my SIL (the girl's step-mom) what she suggests I should do. I want my nieces included in as much pre-wedding stuff as possible. It is hard because they are with my brother only every other weekend. This is like 2 and a half months away - about the time a shower
could/should/would be done.

Basically, I have a bad feeling that the girls wont be able to be there if one is planned. Any thoughts? I know you all may think I am nuts or that they (the BP) may be planning something but unless they have access to my computer and a guest list, which FH even does not have, then there are no plans yet. I just really want them to be there. FH says that they are mature enough to be able to handle not going to one of the events. These young ladies mean a lot to me. I just dont want them feeling bad.

Leslie, how is your rapport with their mother. I am assuming she knows how much you want your nieces included- perhaps you could arrange something directly with her that is not on a date reserved for your brother? My step-niece is in my wedding, so I know what you are going through.

Re: I want to have a BM luncheon/tea...(UPDATE)

There is no rapport. Enough said. She knows little if anything about the wedding and it is better off that way.

Re: I want to have a BM luncheon/tea...(UPDATE)

Oh, that's too bad Leslie! I don't see a problem with waiting until December to have a luncheon. Unless you really want to do it sooner rather than later. Then I would just do something with the older girls now and do something else special for the younger girls when they're available.

Hey, what about having a sleepover with your younger girls in December at your new place!! I'm sure they'd get a kick out of that!!!
